Lions lose DT Onwuzurike for 2025 to ACL surgery

A blow for Detroit, but they did draft Tyleik Williams so it won't be as bad as it could have been.

Interesting article contrasting the book 'The Quarterback Whisperer' by Bruce Arians and how it relates to what KOC is doing with JJM and JJM's innate/tangible abilities as it related to success and the position.

How's everyone feeling with TC swiftly approaching?
Posted by: StickierBuns - 07-17-2025, 08:49 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (43)

Personally, very excited and yet so much is riding on McCarthy. We've all discussed what appear to be improvements in areas of weakness this offseason and in the Draft. O'Connell was named Coach of the Year, extensions for both the HC and GM. Nobody is going to out-strategize KOC or BFlo. Ownership continues to be very solid and consistently so. We know how the players feel about the organization, culture, staff and the facilities, top notch. Brez continues to be incredible with navigating contracts and the cap. U.S. Bank is an amazing game-day atmosphere and the Skol Chant is the best thing going in the NFL IMO. It seems to be all aligning for something big.

If there ever was a time to rip off the scar tissue and expose that vulnerable purple heart to the harsh elements of real hope, its right now. We've never been able to have nice things....but that's only true until it isn't. I've been thru hell and back like any long time Minnesota Vikings fan, but change is in the air IMO. Buckle in for the good times.

A new story to the EG saga...
Posted by: purplefaithful - 07-16-2025, 06:33 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (3)

Former Vikings defensive lineman Everson Griffen apparently extended his string of troubling incidents, this time for being unruly on a flight Wednesday bound for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

The 37-year-old former standout defensive lineman, who lives in the Twin Cities, was removed from the Delta airliner soon after takeoff from Chicago after creating an unspecified scene, according to TMZ Sports.

Delta spokesperson Berj Alexanian told the Minnesota Star Tribune that pilots went back to O’Hare International Airport “to have an unruly passenger removed.”

“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and will always work with law enforcement to that end,” Alexanian added. “We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel as safety and security comes before everythi ng else at Delta.”

While there was no word as of early Wednesday evening about whether Griffen was arrested, Alexanian said, “I recommend reaching out to the Chicago O’Hare Police Department.

Messages were left with Griffen, the O’Hare police and the FBI for more information about the incident. An attorney who has represented Griffen for past criminal matters had no comment.

Archibald Charles Manning: most hyped recruit ever at QB?
Posted by: StickierBuns - 07-16-2025, 04:07 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (19)

Going to be interesting to watch it unfold, will he live up to the hype? Good kid. Big, athletic guy....more athletic than Peyton and Eli. Some fans don't realize that Cooper, his Dad and brother of Peyton and Eli, was a big time recruit at WRer but his spinal issues nipped his college career. University of Texas fans have HUGE expectations.

Weird thing: he's only 9 months younger than JJ McCarthy.

Could get a 3-game suspension possibly. Pleading not guilty. Both charge are misdemeanors. The related complication comes from the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. Baseline punishment for first offense DUI is a three-game suspension.

Nasty story cuz he was just helping kids out and essentially covering all ancillary expenses for the kids on the team (uber rides to practice, catered lunches from local black owned restaurants for the team, physical therapy and “recovery services” and gear)

Teddy - god bless him - has already said he’ll just do it from the bleachers if he has to lol
