Minnesota Vikings: B
HC Kevin O’Connell and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah both got deserved extensions in the wake of a surprising 14-win season and busily did what they could to put new QB1 J.J. McCarthy into an optimal situation as he prepares to take his first regular-season snaps following a rookie year completely lost to a knee injury. That’s meant adding OL Will Fries, Ryan Kelly and first-rounder Donovan Jackson plus re-signing RB Aaron Jones. McCarthy should also benefit from a play-making defense reinforced by veteran DTs Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave plus the retention of S Harrison Smith and fast-improving CB Byron Murphy. But this whole thing might be undone if the decision to part with Darnold proves a mistake.

All good, but...the QB position remains uncertain to them.
Tell us something we don't know.
That is not going to poke a hole in our enthusiasm, however, as the consensus from this board (and the players) is that JJM might just be the real deal.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields was carted off the practice field Thursday morning with an apparent lower leg injury.

Fields pulled up after rolling right and throwing an incomplete short pass to tight end Jeremy Ruckert. Fields went down, sat on the ground briefly and limped off the field with the assistance of a trainer.

He spent a few minutes in the injury tent before a cart arrived on the scene. Fields was taken to the locker room, sitting in the passenger seat of the cart, before walking into the team facility.

Wow, just wow when the truth finally comes out.  It’s beyond a reasonable doubt that the Democrats have lied in every possible way to the American public for the last decade from Obama, Clinton, Brennan, Rice, Clapper, and Comey on down.  People who bought this bill of goods really never wanted to hear the truth, and the never Trumpers have so much egg on their face, they’ll never admit it.  This is the best president in our lifetime.  Be thankful that someone had the balls to fight these asshats.

There, I said it.  I just get this feeling.  Both are talented QBs with big arms.  McCarthy is a redshirt rookie.  Darnold always had "head" issues and a deliberate (and slightly slow) progression.  Despite his youth, I think McCarthy is better suited for the mental aspect of the NFL.

The new and improved line is huge.  With Fries and Kelly contributing to the line, I think it's safe to assume our Interior line will not continue to look like the local Target store on Black Friday offering door buster deals.  I also think it's huge to bring in two interior linemen that are very familiar with each other.  Assuming Darrisaw is back and playing at his level, that line should be better than frankly I can remember for the Vikings.  We've talked about the improved line giving JJ a chance to not be running for his life half the time.  The one thing that doesn't get talked about enough is on the longer passing plays.  There were lots of games last year where receivers broke WIDE open but the pressure prevented getting the ball to the receivers.  Imagine the difference just another half second of protection would make for the longer and slower to develop plays that KOC loves to call.  The receiving corps should be improved even if Addison has to sit 3 games.  Hockenson wasn't fully back last year and I think Felton is an upgrade in receiver depth.  Also, the RB situation should be better this year although I'd still like to see them pick someone up at the last cuts.

The other reason that JJ will throw for more yards...at least one more game (assuming he stays healthy).  In spite of the schedule, I think the Vikings make the playoffs again...and win at least one post season game. JJ should be hitting stride by that time.

Again, I just got that feeling...

...and we have football!

First #Bears practice is in the books and there were some growing pains.

Ben Johnson got on Caleb & the first-team multiple times, and eventually pulled the entire unit in 7-on-7s after they couldn't get lined up twice in a row.

No sign of Luther Burden.
- Caleb Williams was picked off early in 11-on-11 drills. Tremaine Edmunds got him on a pass over the middle.

#Bengals HC Zac Taylor said QB Joe Burrow will play more this preseason than ever before, as the team looks to start the season faster than in years past.

Expect the team on both sides of the ball to be more aggressive and edgier. Allen and Fries are full grown men that play with attitude and it will be contagious. Ryan Kelly said Fries will be ' a fan favorite ' because of the chip he plays with...and that's just a hard ass complimenting another hard ass. It'll be nice to leave the box of Tums tablets in the cabinet after watching the biggest fullback in the NFL playing center in Bradbury leave and Brandel sit his ass back down to backup. Hargrave is built like a cement block, dense and wide. Center of gravity is low. 

It'll be fun watching this team gel as the season goes on. But I think we'll see more fire on both sides of the ball than we've seen in awhile.
