Blazing fast Dalvin Cook shows how irrelevant 40-yard dash times can be
Posted by: purplefaithful - 09-14-2017, 12:19 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (14)

At Florida State, Dalvin Cook gained a reputation as one of the quickest players in college football. His 40-yard dash time, though, is nothing special.A stop watch is certainly one tool available when measuring the speed of NFL players, but like a lot of measuring tools that have been around for a while it is probably not the best. Simply gauging how long it takes a player to go from point A to point B in a straight line is a convenient way to compare a lot of people in a similar situation, but it’s not a thing that really happens on the football field much.
A good example: Vikings rookie running back Dalvin Cook. At Florida State, Cook gained a reputation as one of the quickest players in college football. Then he arrived at the NFL Scouting Combine and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds — a good time, to be sure, but maybe not the number some teams were looking for.
SB Nation wrote of Cook’s combine performance: “An average performance at the 2017 NFL Combine tempered a lot of enthusiasm. Cook ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash, slower than expected.”

but not the one you are thinking of....

apparently there is a young segment of society that they just arent reaching....yet.     not sure why they want to reach people that dont have any money... but I would guess its got something to do with cementing their fan base of the future.  Is this really needed? Dont we have several generations represented that didnt have a marketing ploy directed at them when they were in their teens and early twenties?  Oh well,  better luck next time to the real Guru!

Welcome to the new season!  I'm out of practice... took way too long shooting and editing this.  Plus... well, lots of things wrong but meh... whatever.  I missed the most of the game during to work so that kinda wet blanketed my review.  But enjoy!

  Murray trade to Arizona

There has been some talk about the saints and other teams trading a RB to the Cards because of Johnson's injury.  Here is a link to the current Card's RB committee: http://www.espn.com/blog/arizona-cardina...the-moment

My thought on this is would the Vikes consider trading Murray to the Cards (and bring back Asiata).

Some nice plays by EG against the run.  Loved the exchange with the ref about his penalty.

Well, well well look who showed up to play some football!  The whole dang team!!  Zimmer’s Vikings show that the preseason was just a period of adjusting and figuring out who can play and where.  Apparently the Saints are not that good of a team (at least that’s the excuse).  So the Vikings get no love except from it’s faithful followers.  It was a great game to watch as Sam made some precision throws to which we have not seen in a long time? Maybe never?  (might explain why some Viking fans are not showing the love) and man oh man the catches good golly how did diggs catch some of those, and Thielen, Jarius, and even Treadwell.  Yeah Rudy can't forget about his standard TD catch.  The rook surpasses the legends debut and the O-line gives Sam time.  Defense looks solid, special teams looked good ( yeah who needs all those extra points).  Enjoy the ride!!
So we relished the win and now we are on the road to Pittsburgh.  Home opener where the steelers are tough and have one like 6 or 10 home openers in a row.  It’s time, it’s time to steel the show.  Seven point dawgs?? Really??  Shurmer knows the Steelers, Zimmer knows the steelers.  Book it Dano, the Vikings put up 40 and Steel the show.
Week 2 is Here
