Remaining NFC North schedules, this weeks Bovada Lines
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-21-2017, 01:12 PM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

  1. Saints@ GB  (saints -4.5)
  2. Carolina @ Chicago (Carolina -3)
  3. Ravens @ Vikings (Vikings - 5.5)
I like the Vikes to win, but would not give 5.5 as much of a homer as I am.  Saints? I kinda like them @ GB even with the -4.5.

Looking at the remaining schedule, I would say GB has it the easiest on paper, the Vikings the most difficult, followed by the Lions. I think .500 after the bye week would be exceptional and put the team at 10/6 if we go into it 6/2...Winning the next 2 is critical imo for the season.

Packers remaining schedule:
  • Saints
  • Lions
  • @ Chi
  • Ravens
  • @ Steelers
  • Bucs
  • @ Browns
  • @ Panthers
  • Vikings

  • Browns (London)
  • @ Redskins
  • Rams
  • @ Lions (Thanksgiving)

With Diggs out, Vikings’ rookie WR Coley likely to see more action
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-21-2017, 01:02 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (7)

Stacy Coley was one of the most impressive players in training camp for the Minnesota Vikings. He racked up 10 catches for 165 yards in four preseason games, but hasn’t seen much of the field during the regular season, playing just 18 snaps so far. But that could change this Sunday.
The Vikings officially ruled out Stefon Diggs for Sunday’s game and Michael Floyd is questionable. That bumps Coley up the depth chart behind Adam Thielen and Laquon Treadwell.
Coley, who was a seventh-round pick out of Miami known for his quickness and route running, has worked with the Vikings’ proven receivers to take the next step.
“In and out of my breaks, emphasizing that more in practice,” Coley said. “Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Michael Floyd always help me [by] critiquing me.”

Vikings defense has come a long way since collapsing in wild affair vs. Ravens in 2013
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-21-2017, 12:58 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (1)

That game on Dec. 8, 2013, the most recent contest between the Vikings and Ravens, was the fifth that season in which the Vikings blew a lead in the final minute. It dropped the Vikings to 3-9-1, and no matter how turbulent the team’s quarterback situation had been that season, the defensive collapses effectively sealed Leslie Frazier’s fate as the Vikings’ head coach.
The Vikings hired Mike Zimmer on Jan. 15, 2014, in large part to fix a defense that had been the league’s worst the previous season, but had the 2013 Vikings simply been able to hold on to their late leads, they would have won the NFC North in a season where Aaron Rodgers missed seven games because of a broken left collarbone. It was the two-minute defense that needed the most immediate improvement, and after a bumpy start, Zimmer’s teams largely have cleaned it up.

  AP is Back...
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-20-2017, 08:18 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (10)

Adrian Peterson Is Back: 'I Felt My Ability Was Going to Waste in New Orleans'LONDON — They rode through the gray London afternoon, the coach and two former Pro Bowl players, their black Mercedes van rolling along the winding, narrow city streets. They were on their way to a practice field in the misty countryside, where cows and donkeys roamed nearby. It was Wednesday or—in the world of the Arizona Cardinals—Day 8 of the AP Era.
Bruce Arians sat in the first row of seats, silently reviewing the plays he planned to call against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday in Twickenham Stadium. Carson Palmer was behind his coach, looking out through the tinted windows at school kids playing at recess in their dark-blue uniforms. And near the back was Adrian Peterson, his head buried in an iPad, his dark brown eyes intently scanning the screen. He was doing his own kind of schoolwork.

Anthony Barr reacts to hit that broke Rodgers’ collarbone
Posted by: Kentis - 10-20-2017, 06:56 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (4)

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr says he is not a dirty player, but he understands the reaction in Green Bay to the hit he put on Aaron Rodgers on Sunday that broke the Pro Bowl quarterback’s collarbone and possibly ended his season.
Barr wasn’t able to address hit publicly until Friday because he was in the NFL’s concussion protocol and league rules don’t allow players to talk to the media until they clear that protocol. That happened Friday and Barr was looking forward to addressing the topic after receiving so much scrutiny.
“By no means was I trying to injure or take out Aaron Rodgers. He’s one of the, if not the best player in this league. I’m not a dirty player. I don’t play dirty. They don’t preach that around here,” Barr said after Friday’s practice. “It’s unfortunate, the injury. I hate to see anybody get hurt. I know how hard we work each week to prepare to play. It’s a gift and privilege to play on the field each week so I would never try to take that away from anybody, let alone one of the best players in our game. It’s unfortunate it happened.”

Vikings QB Case Keenum expected to start after Sam Bradford sits out practice
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-20-2017, 04:26 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (9)

Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford did not practice again Friday, putting Case Keenum in position to start Sunday against Baltimore at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Bradford is expected to miss his fifth game out of the past six with a knee injury. He has not played or practiced since Oct. 9 at Chicago, when he was ineffective and removed in the final minute of the first half after aggravating his injury.
Also not practicing Friday was Nick Easton (calf), who is likely to be replaced at left guard for the second straight game by Jeremiah Sirles. Returning to practice were wide receivers Stefon Diggs (groin) and Michael Floyd (hamstring), with both likely to be listed as questionable for Sunday.
Linebacker Anthony Barr, who suffered a concussion in the second quarter last Sunday against Green Bay and left the game, practiced for the second straight day.
Safety Andrew Sendejo has practiced all week after sitting out against the Packers. He is expected to play against the Ravens.
