Hi, yes this is Nolan… can I speak to Saquon please?
Breaking: After consultations with numerous doctors and experts that went into Saturday, the Eagles are placing quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve, sources tell @rapsheet and me. The move will sideline Hurts indefinitely.

Why not just find a competent RB that will cost a little less? Not sure we need a Ladanian Tomlinson type of star with how this team is built.
Im kidding mostly, I can’t see it happening. Said as much in other threads, he’s also nursing an injury…but Philly’s season is certainly circling the drain now.
So to recap: The Eagles have lost 3 straight, their QB is out indefinitely… major issues health wise at RB and WR plus their OL is in shambles. It could be a long season in Philly

He looked explosive in the game he got injured.
But all we need is Pollard.

For THIS SEASON I would agree...I think we could make do with that trio the rest of the way.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Pollard would be perfect for this season. You won't get any kind of big plays from him for the most part. But you will get a player that moves the chains. Not flashy. We don't need him to be. Aaron Jones is looking to be giving his absolute all, looks all in for his last season here. Pollard and Mason are perfect to match with him.

Yup. 1 season rental. He’s so similar to Jones without the constant nagging injuries. He’d be great insurance.

Having Mason, Pollard, Jones allows many different looks with two different players that can be relied on out of the back field in the passing game. Does well in pass blocking. You give Jones a rest at times. Pollard has always been best as a compliment and lesser snaps.
I'm all for adding a guy like Pollard for a 5th rounder. At minimum. But picture if you will, you're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind, where the Vikings are in the NFCC on the back of a resurgent Murray, a great line, the best receivers....and that cartoonishly good defense. One game to win and we go to the Super Bowl. At that point, will we wish we'd gone all in on Barkley two months prior? Seasons like this (if it truly is a season like this) don't come around often.

3 games until the trade deadline. Colts, at Detroit, Bills. Win all 3 and I think you swing for the fences for Jonathan Taylor. Especially if the 49ers suffer a few more key injuries.
But, Pollard would be your best ROI.

Barkley won't be playing today against Carolina, mentions the injury....or just resting trade capital? Both? Regardless, another loss for teams with some tradable commodities should loosen things up a bit on the trade market for this upcoming week methinks.
I think bolstering may be on the agenda, but nothing blockbuster for the Vikings.

Insurance policy type moves. Prudent

Whatever is able to get #33 down to about 15 touches a game is important. You have an injury and a guy like Pollard just steps in. Keep all 3 rotating and you keep things fresh going into the end of the year.
But yes, insurance policy, if you will.

Man, Taylor would be nice. He's two years younger than Barkley, but probably less likely to be moved. Wha's interesting is that neither would devastate our cap.
Barkley Acquiring Team Cap Notes:
Remaining Contract: Barkley signed a 2-year extension worth $41.2 million ($36 million guaranteed) with the Eagles, featuring a base salary of $1,300,000 and a signing bonus/option structure for 2026.
Incoming Cap Hit: The acquiring team generally takes on the remaining base salary and prorated/unaccelerated portions of his active deal, which translates to a relatively manageable incoming cap hit for the remainder of the season (roughly $4.5 million or pro-rated base/bonuses depending on the exact week of the trade), while inheriting future years on his contract through 2028/2029. [1, 2]
Taylor Acquiring Team Cap Notes:
Remaining Base Salary: The acquiring team is only responsible for the prorated remainder of Taylor's $6.98 million base salary for the 2026 season (roughly $3.5 million depending on the exact week of the trade).
No Prorated Bonus Burden: The Colts retain all prorated signing bonus charges ($15 million total bonus structure), meaning the new team does not inherit dead cap or bonus acceleration from the original signing.
Easy In-Season Fit: Because the heavy cash and cap hits kick in later, a contender can absorb his 2026 salary relatively easily mid-season. [1, 2]

I think it depends on the record. If we're 5-3 at the trade deadline, bolstering makes sense. If we're 8-0. F*** that, go big.

MB reminded me of this compensation for CMC:
The San Francisco 49ers acquired running back Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers on October 20, 2022. [1]
Trade Details
Date: October 20, 2022 [1]
49ers Received: Running back Christian McCaffrey [1]
Panthers Received:
2023 second-round draft pick
2023 third-round draft pick
2023 fourth-round draft pick
2024 fifth-round draft pick [1]
Probably something less than this for Taylor.
27 Eagles 3rd
27 Vikings two 5ths
28 Vikings 2nd

Man, thats a lot of draft picks...
I still think because of whats happened the last 4 years in the draft, this roster needs quality depth and prioritize keeping an eye toward backfilling key positions manned by the 30+ years old gang (Harry, Wilson, AVG, Cashman, KVN, AJ sr).
They got 3 more Sundays to play till the 11/10 NFL Trading Deadline:
Colts, @Lions, Buffalo (MNF)
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Or, we sell out for the Super Bowl.

I dont know if we got the QB for that or not yet...
I'm glad (it appears) we have a few weeks to get this sorted - or not.
