OT: Basketball Jones
Shot hoops for the first time in 25 years with the grandson who just started showing interest in the game. After about 5 minutes of putting up airball after airball the range came back. Forgot how satisfying ripping the twine from the top of the key felt. It’s up there with dunking (not that that’s happening again on a 10’ hoop)
We split about a half dozen games of around the world. Introduced to him a little trash talk. Forgot how fun it was to hit shot after shot on a hot streak. Wonder if there’s any 65+ muni half court leagues with 3 minute quarters 😆

Maybe I’ll pull out my 3’ bong. Have a feeling I’ll need it tomorrow for medicinal purposes.

I'm envious, I got an inner grandpa who's still waiting...
Been thinking about Big Bros...My wife was a Big Sister starting 15 years ago and she is still in the life of that lil girl!

Two more boys coming in late October and early December. It’s both cool and sobering at the same time.

Approaching my mid fifties and I can still "run" with my 20 something boys. Never was a scorer, but I can defend and rebound. Definitely don't run the court as well as I used to, but enjoy playing ball with them regularily.
I think I'd have to cut those quarters down to 30 seconds. Of all the sports I've played, basketball is by far the most physically grueling.

I used to do 15k time trials in Florida. Heart rate at over 180bpms for 20 minutes. Lactic acid. Brutal. One season of that was enough for me. Replaced that with century rides. Did a dozen of those. 4.5 hours on the bike was pretty brutal.

I played BB most of my life and coached my kids' teams when they were younger. I have a half court in my back yard and friends and I would play every Saturday for 20+ years. I played until I was 60, but after dozens of turned/broken ankles I finally had to have a "total ankle replacement." The surgeon says I can play again, but I am done. I just want to be able to walk / hike with the wife on vacations. The last 2 vacations I could walk for about an hour and only every other day. But BB was the best and most fun exercise I got every week. Now I go to the gym when I can drag myself there. ... If you can still play, play.
