Way Too Early 27 Draft Rankings
Reid is such a great follow. First caught him at TDN.

Well, that would be a gloomy situation for Minnesota.....😬
Honestly, didn’t want to post it. I seriously get ill thinking about this outcome. One of these guys needs to pan out for the long term. I have great faith that Teasley is the perfect guy to judge this.

I have faith that Teasley + KOC can judge the QB situation...I see TE, Edge or LB as future #1 pick for us in 27 :)
Ok, maybe a tailback
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Sorry, but if McCarthy doesn't pan out...I'm out on entrusting OConnell to develop another young high draft pick at quarterback. He can just keep going the veteran route, which is clearly his preference anyway.

RB should be a 1/2 round pick for sure with Jones and Mason being in the last year of respective contracts. Even if Claiborne shows promise we’ll need another back.
TE Day 2 is pretty much a no brainer unless Hock has a re-birth type year. Or Bartholomew shows something or one of these guys UDFA from last year.
Might need two Edge guys depending on Gink. Wrong side of 30 and coming off a neck injury. Hopefully Teasley has Clowney or Miller on speed dial.

Agree. ED, RB, TE. Last time Hockenson was healthy and in a functioning offense, he ranked 2nd in the NFL in receptions and 4th in yards. He's still only 28 at a position where players are effective into their mid-30s. So I think Hockenson is going to have a big year, but I don't think it will matter. I think the Vikings want to reset the TE position for cap reasons and will draft a TE very high next year.
What happens with Addison could impact this too. If he gets in trouble again, or for whatever reason we scrap plans to extend him, I think WR goes to the top of the list due to positional value.

I'll bet there's 30,000,000 reasons why they may not extend Addison...

I think they want to keep Addison and I think they will try to, assuming he keeps his nose clean. But you're right; this is no slam dunk. I keep thinking of the Bengals and their two massive cap hits at WR and how that has impaired their ability to field a competitive defense. Will the Vikings see that, put Jordan's extension on the back burner, pay his $20M option, then trade him during his 5th season (2027) ala Amari Cooper?
I think this season, on and off the field, will have a lot to say about what they do. The good news is we can keep him for two more seasons without paying him obscene money, so there's plenty of time to let it play out.

Yup, good point.
The timing is on our side and it's a silver lining in all this...In the meantime, maybe one of the kids (Bell, Felton etc.) breaks out and Addison becomes a great trade chip.
Maybe even the Qb position will be settled by then?

Most likely correct. But with the way the cap keeps increasing, they may be okay with having 2 WRs making 30K+ on the roster.
