There's a lot of different opinions here about drafting Banks last night. As I've stated before, I don't keep up with college players. However, I was aware of his injury history & personally would not have picked him at #18. That being said, I believe he's who they really wanted, as the pick was in so fast.

Some were thinking they would trade down & maybe they did contemplate it. Who knows for sure? (I imagine someone knows, but not me. LOL)

So, here's my question: Do you think it's possible that their plan for this year is to just Stick & Pick this entire draft? If their first choice is off the board, do they go with another player in that spot or try a trade for more picks?

If you want an abysmal hit rate, edge rushers on Day 2 is brutal. I’d rather find a $ figure both sides can agree to instead of trying to draft Greenie’s replacement. Ginks isn’t exactly an ironman.

Granted we went through a stretch where we were hitting on every DE pick there or at a very high probability. Right now we have 4 DE's - Ginkel, Greenard, Turner and maybe Ingram Dawkins. See if he remains inside or kicks back out. Your starters are solid. Ingram Dawkins and Turner could be a nice combo-one more focused on run defense the other on passing downs. Then find a backup somewhere in the draft.

So what would I like to see on Day 2. 2nd round Safety/CB possibly double up if we have an extra pick. 3rd round - I think Logan Jones would fit in pretty well as our C of the future.

Why is my gut telling me that Minnesota's favorite draft choice at center is Jake Slaughter out of Florida? But keep in mind: this was the same gut that thought Kayden McDonald was going to be the pick at #18, lol. Hey, I'm good at right position, wrong player!

Unlike a lot of teams, the Vikings didnt turn that pick in right away when they were on the clock...Clearly they were on the phone taking calls.
They didnt get an offer they liked enough to come off 18 is all I can theorize.
Go figure...

Where are you getting this?

NFL Network mentioned the Vikings were one of the fastest teams to turn in their card on the broadcast lol. No one in that room has much experience executing draft day trades or a gamble of that size, I'd be shocked if they seriously considered trading back-- "value" be darned.

Safety, WR, RB, iLB or C. Hit 3 of these 5 today. I’ve got to think there’s at least 5 safeties they’d be happy with today.

Biggest hole right now is the 65% of the offensive snaps WR3 accounts for. Are they content with the Uber Gunner there? I’m not.

Probably need to fill another 650 iDL snaps. Would love to put Hunter here, but Barrett Day 3 is also pretty intriguing.

Just observation watching the draft on NFL network and in/out of chat room...That card was not turned in quickly imo.

I thought I heard they were quick with their pick too. But, the broadcast was so backed up who knows. That was not planned out well.

So in response to whether we stick and pick I say no. I am anticipating at least 2 trades tonight. Anyone willing to take me up on that LOL.

Hard to say and last night didnt give any hint as to how/if things are different without a GM there.

We have someone there Brez. The biggest change is I think Brez will be very similar to Spielman in everything has a value. So if there is extreme value in a trade up get it. If you can get excess value in a trade down, go for it. There are 3-4 options that I could see being high value for the vikings tonight.

  1. McCoy - potential elite CB - knee concerns

  2. Emmanuel Mcneil Warren - big safety

  3. Terrell - can play both man and zone - could be valuable in our system

  4. Boston - is the big WR we seem to be targeting this draft (I could see a trade up for any of these 4- although Boston would be aggressive)

  5. Hood - another CB

  6. Stowers - TE, we were willing to take a TE in the 1st maybe?

  7. Brazzell - big WR

  8. CJ Allen - solid linebakcer

  9. Rodriguez - LB several seem to like for us.

  10. Haulcy - S multiple people have linked to us.

Hargrave and Allen played 1300+? Snaps last year, Vikings had to stick and pick a defensive tackle.

By Trading down they could've screwed themselves.

This all goes back to the price paid when free agency signing doesn't work out, it limits flexibility and options available moving forward.

Banks pick was primo example

So I'm this old now: we went out and had dinner....went and listened to some live music, took our time....came back home and Minnesota still hadn't made their selection, lol.

I asked that very question last night. Pretty close.

I posted this yesterday, Philly has the 54th pick - too low for me to trade Greenard. Especially to an NFC rival.

I don't like trading Greenard within the NFC. But I don't think we can do much better than 54, considering what will have to be a sizable contract to go with it.

If it's even true that there is a deal in place, I still think it would be a contingency agreement. Like if the edge they want falls to them at 54, they take him and the deal is off. If he doesn't, they trade that pick to the Vikings for Greenard. Something like that anyway.
