Interesting observation about Kyler Murray
Just my fan layperson observation, take it for what you will, but this is a different kind of QB for KOC. Not saying that's a good or bad thing, I have no idea. I'm not going to shit on anything, because I'm curious to see how it all goes down, but I'm not going to overhype it either. Anyway, it was interesting to do a deeper dive.
However it unfolds, its probably safe to say Jettas will have more than 2 td's this season :)
The prism I'll be putting it through for me is wins and losses. Stats are fine, the offense certainly lacked what they've had historically with yardage, but hopefully the wins come with more offensive production consistently...the 'baseline' that KOC has eluded to with QB play.
I'm not a fan of Murray's downfield throws. They are lobs, hospital balls, and ripe for picks. He has the mobility for sure and is a little waterbug.
I'm still rooting for McCarthy to beat him out.
This is what I was alluding to somewhat in my original post. That completion percentage that the Murray camp is hanging their hat on is mostly on short completions and good YAC. Its not Uncle Sammy standing tall in the pocket and launching 25 yard darts and eating up big chunks. And Mike Zimmer would definitely be throwing out the ol' horseshoe quote after watching about 5 games of game video on him.
We've seen other guys succeed after failing (Darnold, Mayfield, etc.), so its not impossible Murray rocks it. But at the same time, you have to be cognizant of why Arizona gave up on the #1 overall pick in the Draft and its no guarantee. Be mindful as the national media hypes the living shit out of it.
