Take it for what it's worth, but today's Purple DaIly podcast had an anonymous poster report that he lived in the New England area and ran into a "well known draft commentator" recently (obviously someone at ESPN) and he asked him what he thought about the draft for the Vikings. This commentator responded with "corner, defensive line, safety" but also heard the Vikings were sniffing around offensive tackles in this draft and had heard Christian Darrisaw's name floated as a potential trade candidate that could land the Vikings an additional 1st round pick.  Go to the 19 minute mark in the video.

It's reckless speculation for a reason but it does make some sense. I said a month ago on here to not eliminate offensive tackle as a potential first round target. The whole Darrisaw thing this year was beyond weird and Judd touches on all that. To me the biggest thing is....is he damaged goods at this point? Just another thing to keep an eye on this offseason

I agree, hopefully just needed another year to get back to form?

Nothing like selling low either, which is what they would be doing right now

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Interesting.  On one hand, it's not ideal giving up an All-Pro (when he's on the field), but on the other hand, he is unreliable (injuries) at a position that needs stability.  He's rock solid at LT when healthy and worth every penny when he plays.  With a young QB learning and getting comfortable with the NFL, we need consistency at the o line positions, primarily at the C and LT spots.

The questions I would have are:

  • Who would replace Darrisaw if he was traded?
  • What would the Vikings get for him?

While I recognize he hasn't played a full season yet, he may be too valuable to give up.

The only reason to trade Darrisaw is if his knee is secretly messed up and you want to pawn him off to someone else before it blows up in your face.

I think we could realistically be looking for someone to grow into O’Neills spot in a few years, but I’d be surprised if drafted an OT in the first or second, and would be extremely surprised if we traded Darrisaw.

Darrisaw’s problem may be between his ears, team thought he was ready physically before the regular season opener. Something seems amiss with this guy…

The speculation is they'd trade him for a 1st round pick, so let me throw a scenario at ya'll. Houston (since they like our all pro players and have a need) calls us up and offers their 1st round pick (28th), without knowing anything else about the knee or anything else...are you making that trade?

In watching players return from ACL injuries, the path darrisaw followed was unlike any I can recall.

The details on what happened were vague.

Tea leaf reading says the Vikings weren't pleased.

Now this?

We'd pay $30M to get rid of Darrisaw.  We would lose money against the cap instead of saving it.  They'd get him for the next two years for less than $30M combined.  Plus we'd get a low first to try and get another Darrisaw.

Why would we do this?  Why not throw Jefferson into the mix and see if they'll give us a 2027 first for him?

I feel like I would rather have half of Darrisaw than do this trade.

Per Google Darrisaw has missed 25 games in his career. Might be additional games added to list he didnt finished. He has had ankle, concussion a few times and blew out his knee. Kwesi wants prove he can go to another team become injury free and a all pro. Kwesi thinks Ingram and Bradbury didnt fully prove his incompetence

^ This.

If there's any truth to this—and I doubt there is—it's more about what's going on in his head than his knee. There were some real puzzling moments with him this year, where he appeared to be signed off to play by the medical staff and then just chose not to.

I read an article the other day that mentioned how he came out of the Cleveland game at the end when we needed him most. KOC was asked about it and said he was on a managed "pitch count." If that were really the case, wouldn't you limit his snaps toward the beginning or middle of the game, and not at the end when you need him most?

I think it was a conditioning thing with him,  he looked so gassed even early in games on any drive that lasted more than a few plays.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Agree.    All Pro caliber left tackles don't grown on trees and the Vikings offense suffers when he goes out.
