KOC has not ruled it out.
It's a long break given the Thursday night game...and it depends on his ability to grip the football.
No promises.

Personally, if he can, I would like to see more of him to continue the evaluation process.

I sure hope so too...

Brosmer isnt ready to play and may never be. Selfishly, I'd like to beat the Pack to end this most frustrating of seasons. But it is his throwing hand, so I would put it at 50/50 on a good day.

Imagine if this team had just an avg offense to go with that D?

Injuries aside, they screwed the pooch with poor decisions at back-up QB. Hindsight is crystal clear in this case.

Although the Vikings claimed veteran quarterback Brett Rypien to ensure they had three available passers Thursday alongside Brosmer and John Wolford, Minnesota has not ruled out getting McCarthy back for its Week 18 home game against the Green Bay Packers.

"He's doing well," O'Connell said. "With the extra time until next week, we'll see. It's all going to come down to just grip strength and his ability to grip the football and throw it. And I would obviously love to have him get one more opportunity for this year.

"I look forward to seeing how J.J. progresses here early in the week, and we'll see if we can have him."

Even in hindsight, I don't think anyone was expecting Wentz to get hurt and have to play through a jacked shoulder. It's very hard to grade his play with his limited time in the system and even more limited time before getting crunched.

Two of our QBs got mauled this season, one on a few occasions. That's not typical, though we've pulled it off twice in three seasons.

KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

I don't see much, if any chance of beating the Packers with Brosmer. Hope JJ can play.

I think JJ escapes a couple of those sacks last night,  but I also question how getting pummeled the rest of the time would affect his growth.  Our OL played like shit last night and I dont think JJ would have looked much better as he hasn't really shown yet that he can beat a blitz either.   If he get ls confident in that arm making NFL OPEN throws,  he will be fine,  but until then he will be holding the ball and looking for somebody that he is comfortable with.  I hope he is ready,  but I also hope KOC has a better protection plan in place.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

It depends which JJM would have showed up.  Early in the season, he was holding on to the ball far too long.  He's clearly better those last two games he played.
Some of those sacks could have been nullified with quick release passes, i.e. a slant over the middle.  Hate to give him credit but two eventual HOF passers that I recall being the master of quick releases are Brady and Rodgers.

Aidan Hutchinson was too much for our OL, too often.
Whoever plays against the Packers next week, quick releases are going to be mandatory.

In those games, JJM did play against some of the worst pass defenses in the league, which is good because of the experiance gained. I believe the last decent defense he faced was against the Packers. Thankfully, no Micah Parsons this time around.

If the injury was on his non-throwing hand, I could possibly see him playing against the Packers. Gripping the football with a stress fracture is somewhat doubtful..

He may have ligament damage, doubt he's back. Packers won't play anyone anyways, it will be a preseason game for all intents and purposes.

If the Packers win out and the Bears lose out the Pack win the division. So if the Bears lose and Pack win this week GB will play everybody week 18.

And now the Bears have won the division and the Vikings gift a wildcard to the Packers

Well...no.  Congrats Bears.

Watching the Packers lose should be a constitutionally protected right for all citizens. ;)

I look at the Bears and the Packers and I don’t think either team is going very far in the playoffs
. Packers have lost 3 games in a row and hopefully the 4th one coming up. If Love plays I hope our defense can get after him.

I'd be thrilled but shocked if JJM plays this week.

I bet we dont see Love much (if at all) or JJM...

This could be the least interesting Vike/Pack game in a long time.

I've read somewhere that the Packers are considering resting a lot of their starters with the upcoming playoffs. Win or loss against the Vikings doesn't affect their position anyways.

Agree. I think there are quite a few overrated teams in the playoff field this year. Bears, Packers, Eagles and Broncos among them. But we'll see...this time of year it's more about getting hot and healthy than roster talent.

Today reinforced my priors that Philly is set up nicely to repeat. IMO they've been underrated for a month, not overrated.

If JJM is healed enough, he should play. It's better to go out on one final game, a likely win against probable backups, than for the lingering memory in the offseason to be "yeah, but he even missed the last 2 because of injury". He should want to head into January with the fans impatient for September, not in our constant offseason muddle of "who's our starting QB?

That's one of the things I wanted JJM to settle, most of all. The every-offseason speculation all over our most important position wears after so many years.

Find a good veteran challenger, get the kid healed up, but beat the sh*t out of the pukers first.

KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....
