There's been some criticism of KOC by 90's and 00's era QBs on Pure Progression systems vs reading the defense.  Kirk Cousins offers an interesting take on the matter.

While going over the Viking-Giants game, the Check The Mic guys spend a little bit of time talking about it as well. Kind of interesting as we have coordinators kind of spear heading both ends of the spectrum.

Justin Herbert talking about it as well

I do see advantages in the Progression approach with rook QB's...Let them build some foundation playing & seeing, then progress from that to deciphering defenses.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

From a defensive side though I see it as a way to get much more favorable matchups and make it easier to take their stars away.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

THIS. There's an old saying that works in many different settings: "You have to learn the rules before you break them". The fundamentals have to be taught and absorbed before the student knows what they're picking from in any given situation. It's usually a lot to take in, and another universal truth is that you work faster once you don't have to think as much.

We've watched JJM get buried in his own brain, then in DLs, earlier this season. Maybe KOC had too much faith, maybe he piled on too much, maybe the bumps in the road were inevitable and something JJM (and the team, and the fans) just had to go through.

If the kid keeps with his recent growth through these last few games, I'd say that the right balance of concepts/practice will be in place.

KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....
