If I’ve learned anything, it’s that the fans want perpetually mediocre QBs. Give me the Geno Smiths and Kyler Murrays of the world and lets go pad some JJ stats and hope that we can win enough to make the playoffs every other year.

You and me both. I really don't think they have a clear perspective on "big picture" winning because they run things like fans and think we are a playoff team every year even when it's clear that we aren't. Their "competitive rebuild" mandate is one of the dumbest philosophies ever. Some years you just have to take your medicine, suck, so you have a chance at landing a top quarterback in the draft. Case in point, the Patriots went 4-13 before landing Drake Maye in the draft (who we wanted) and positioned themselves for one of the top quarterbacks. In typical Viking fashion, we go 7-10, end up drafting well out of elite prospect range, and settle on taking the 5th quarterback in that draft, McCarthy. The Wilfs don't understand the way the league works at all and it's what the Vikings have consistently done for the 20+ years they've owned the team. Always average, maybe making the playoffs every five or six seasons, and never being true contenders and that's on ownership and their fucked up philosophy on always being competitive. Well, after all these years, we the fans don't want competitive, we want a winner! Do you think the Commanders or Patriots fans would have traded 4 or 5 more worthless wins on the season and miss out on Jayden Daniel's or Drake Maye? Hell no!! They don't give a shit about those worthless wins because they have franchise quarterbacks moving forward. It's what the Wilfs continue to fail to recognize.
