Draft Talk
Nice writeup from the Athletic on the top 3 draft prospects by position thusfar for the 2026 draft. This is going to be a deep draft along the offensive line. Obviously secondary is a need for us. Running back, if the right one is there. Interesting neither Penn State kids made his top 3. Not a very happy year in Happy Valley thusfar. A kid that's really caught my attention is the TE from Oregon, Sadiq. Never too early to start looking towards the draft...

Here is CBS's new top 50

I watched some of the '26 backs a few months ago. In about 10 minutes of watching, I thought Nick Singleton had the most impressive pro running style. Sounds like he's not making much of an impression this year though. Coleman's a bowling ball. Be happy with either of them or Love. But this is not the RB windfall that the '25 draft has turned out to be. Five rookie backs are already RB1s on their team

I think this year it's looking like offensive line is the stacked group where you could have seven to eight guys go in the 1st round
Aller out for the year...ouch. Hearing some in the draft community calling him "undraftable" due to his inability to hit open targets. Depending on how JJ finishes out the year, I wouldn't mind the Vikings using a draft pick at some point and rolling the dice. He is the typical "all the physocal tools in the world" but hasn't been able to put things together for whatever reason

Also read he might try for a medical hardship and sneak in another year in college if he can. He's only 21 years old. I definitely see someone taking a shot by drafting him midrange to late in the Draft and hope they strike gold.
It would be great for him if he could swing that. He's needed a "prove it" year and the scouts have been waiting on one..

GBN just released their mid-season top 50 Big Board. Bain seems to be the consensus top guy at this point.
Allar = Christian Hackenberg. Anyone with two eyes can see that. Painfully obvious.

What's going on with the running backs? Allen looks to be the better back this year

The only logical explanation is they switched jerseys.
I know Allen dropped 8lbs. I’m perplexed. Both will be low mileage options. Singleton is probably one of the better receivers at the position but he seems to have lost a step. Maybe he’s just playing out the string. Undisclosed injury perhaps? Mystery. Looking like a Day 3 option.
The one I’m really dumbfounded by is Hughes in Oregon. Two 1200 yard years at Tulane and now he can’t sniff the field. Coaches doghouse? Reviewed him with MB in May and we both liked him. Weird.
I need to look at Hayes. I like the kid from Minnesota a bit, but he’s probably a touch slow.
26 looks like a weak class. After Love I’d take Coleman, the Temu MJD. Not sure he’ll measure 5-7, but he runs and catches well. Wrong year to need a RB.
Thank Christ we have Tai Felton instead of about a half dozen RBs who went after him. Love me some punt gunners. What a fucking miss.
Makhi Hughes is not playing because he has requested to redshirt the remainder of the 2025 season. This decision comes after a slow start to the season where he was buried on the depth chart and had limited snaps, and it allows him to develop his skills and learn the offense more thoroughly, with the potential to have two years of eligibility remaining.
One mystery solved.

That's what I was wondering if Singleton was injured or not. Perplexing to otherwise see a guy go from stud to dud in a short period of time, but then again that entire team has been a dud this year.
Matt Rhule is going to have a lot to fix
My Top 50 Big Board: October Edition
— NFL Draft Files (@NFL_DF) October 15, 2025
1. MIA ED Rueben Bain Jr.
2. CLEM IDL Peter Woods
3. ASU WR Jordyn Tyson
4. UTAH OT Spencer Fano
5. OSU LB Arvell Reese
6. ALA QB Ty Simpson
7. ND RB Jeremiyah Love
8. IND QB Fernando Mendoza
9. LSU CB Mansoor Delane
10. MIA OT Francis…
iLB class is loaded. Sonny Styles my current favorite. Former S, excellent size. Cashman can’t stay on the field and Pace has regressed badly. Reese seems to be more of an Edge and we’re not going to be drafting early enough to grab him.
I’m a little surprised that Slaughter from Florida and the kid from Oregon couldn’t crack this top 50 as well as others I seen recently. Tons of Centers this year.
CB seems to be pretty good. But, since we are predominantly a zone team, I’m not sure we spend a high pick there. WR is getting better. RB is still looking very sparse. DL looks good and might be a lowkey need with Allen and Hargrave underperforming to date.

Bain seems to be this years Abdul Carter. Probably won't go first overall, but will be in the conversation as the best overall player in the draft.
For all the Peter Woods hype....where's the production?
I like Kadyn Proctor but the rankings on him are hugley contrasting. I see some people think he's likely a guard and that's the biggest reason for the lower rankings. Probably will see at least a half dozen tackles go in the 1st round.
I don't think it's a particularly good year to need a quarterback and the RB crop is way down from last year.

They’re deploying Wood a little differently this year, far less on the Edge so that could have an impact. Win rate on pass rush is still good as is run stop rate. I think he’s akin to Ed Oliver who was also supposed to be a top 5 guy but slid to Buffalo.
Bain is just a force. Carter is a good comp. His running mate in Miami is pretty good too. I like Sutton at Penn State too, but maybe just at the outside or end of the first.
Proctor had a horrific start to the year but seems to have turned it around. I’m not sure I’d trust him at tackle. I keep getting larger Alex Leatherwood vibes. Probably more athletic but Bama OLmen scare me.
RB class is just not good. I still can’t believe Hughes redshirted. He got himself buried in a six man rotation in Oregon behind a 5th or 6th year senior among others. Brutal.

It is crazy when you think about all the talented prospects that have rolled (no pun intended) through Alabama over the years that very few have amounted to anything in the NFL. I do like Proctor though, even if he ultimately kicks inside to guard at the next level. Just a massive individual.
