EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. --- The New York Giants are planning to bench quarterback Russell Wilson in favor of first-round rookie Jaxson Dart after three games, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Dart's first start will come at home Sunday against the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium. The 25th overall pick this year out of Ole Miss served as the backup to Wilson for the first three games of the season.

The switch to Dart is a move that could reinvigorate a disappointed fan base. Fans cheered when the rookie came on the field for a snap in the second quarter on Sunday night. That contrasted with their booing after Wilson threw a second-quarter interception in a tie game in his first home game with the team.

Dart has been preparing for this moment ever since the Giants traded back into the first round to get him to New York. He has done nothing but impress since taking the field in the spring. Dart started the spring with the third-team offense and quickly worked his way past Winston early in the summer.

His first extended taste of regular-season NFL action will come against a Chargers defense that is currently allowing under 300 yards per game.

Dart will give the Giants' offense a different look and more options. His ability to run the ball and the zone-read had his version of the offense looking vastly different from the first-team unit with Wilson throughout the summer.

ESPN

Some great moves right? Starting with Daboll, Saquon, Dimes....

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Translation....we have begun the process of firing Daboll, his mom, his dad and the entire front office.

Y'know...when I first moved up here to Washington, he was drafted the next Spring. He quickly was part of the team that would give the "Legion of Boom" (or "juice" as I called it, referring to their PED findings), "Beast Mode", etc.

He was a true goody-goody initially, visiting kids in the cancer ward every Tuesday (even when he was injured), lots of community appearances, and so forth. This was also the period where we seemed doomed to play up here, in a very hostile stadium, when the 'Hags had a lot of momentum.

It was darkly funny watching his fall from grace. The hookup with Ciara, the inevitable hob-nobbing with a danker crowd, and his ego inflating...this all gathered quickly. As someone surrounded by "12s" year after year, I did enjoy his, and their, struggles.

When he was traded, I knew the disaster ahead for Denver. That coach never put a culture in place, they bent over backwards for stupid perks for Wilson (his own office, trainers, parking, etc), and we all saw what happened to the coach, then to Wilson...

...and again...

...and, now again.

It's gotten so dismal, that I'm unable to enjoy it much, anymore. That dark chunk of my soul wants to urge him to take the inevitable commentator job, maybe do a podcast with Ciara before her 15 minutes are up, and just allow themselves to fade away into their piles of money.

KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

Denver saw the light and cut their losses.
Wilson's time has come and...gone.

A day late and many dollars short.  Denver gave up a ton to get him, and paid him way beyond his worth.  Seattle fleeced Denver in that one.

Maybe. There's some logistical chaos involved.

Really interesting insight here. I watched an interview with Russ a LONG time ago and he mentioned how he was a bully growing up. Said he didn't like that about himself.

Apparently, he never outgrew it...but, his attitude/arrogance are writing checks that his on-field play can't cash. He's had years of as many lowlights as highlights, and really should consider time as a commentator bobblehead and/or a podcaster with Ciara before he fully burns down his NFL history.

Details and plan are still being worked out.

The funny thing is that he wasn't like that when he was here at Wisconsin.  As a Badger booster, I met him several times.  He was a pretty level headed guy and interesting/fun to be around.  His battles with Cousins at Michigan State were epic with Cousins winning the regular season game on a long throw and Wilson winning the rematch in the Big 10 championship game.  As has been said, the Ciara thing dramatically changed him.   Chicks.

Funny thing is, I had never heard of Ciara (not really surprising, I'm a member of the blues/rock musician set, I don't pay attention to today's so-called "R&B"), and Wilson really did seem to be almost as much of the dorky good guy as Cousins...until they got together. At the same time, the "Legion" tried to have a ton of swagger and Marshawn Lynch brought his own 'tude around the team...so, it's like they thought they were Compton North.
