Vannet is mainly a blocking TE. I think this just gives them some backup fodder and a blocking TE for preseason games so Oliver doesn't have to play more in preseason

I think this is more likely due to the Gavin Bartholomew news that he has a "serious back injury" according to Alex Lewis. KOC actually said the signing had nothing to do with Hockenson's injury. I think they expect him back after a few days.
