PFN 3 Rounder
More love for Caleb Downs.
Priorities going into 2026 appear to be:
- Hitman's replacement
- Aaron Jones' replacement
- iDL depth
- Future C
- WR depth
- QB2
What am I missing? What should be a higher priority?

I'd put RB first, but no major changes.
Still can't believe we didn't draft a RB this year. Felton looks promising, but I wish he played RB. It would be nice to be grooming a 3rd round speedster this year behind Jones. Learning the offense, learning how to pass block, ready to hit the ground running in '26.
But maybe this Tre Stewart has something. Or maybe Chandler gets his head out of his ass and learns how to pass block. He's got some talent as a runner if the team could just trust him. My assumption was that he wouldn't make the team, but my assumption was that we'd draft his replacement.

I think the team likes Jurgens in that developmental center role behind Kelly, so I'd probably switch that need out for corner...but the rest of the list looks accurate. Not a ton of real pressing needs and that should make it easy to go BPA next year.

Politely disagree.
Hitman's replacement is a priority.
I honestly thought there was a chance we would either do IOL, IDL or S.
Jackson was a good choice at G, but S needs attention because Hitman is out of time. This IS his swan song.

Jurgens doesn’t move the needle for me.
Murphy, Rodgers, and Blackmon should be ok through 26. Plus I think we still add Jones or bring back Shaq. I know they like Nudie as well. But, CB should be top 5. 4th?

I still really hope we sign Jones or even bring Samuel in on a "prove it" type deal. Shaq just looked slow to me last year. Would love to bring in a young, rangy guy with some speed.

We need both and I can definitely see the argument for needing a safety more than a running back. But I guess I like Theo Jackson and Jay Ward in a Flores defense a little more than Tre Stewart and Ty Chandler on a team that wants to run the ball.
I'm actually a little surprised Harry decided to come back for another year. And I suspect that was due more to bringing a long-time Viking along for the Lombardi run than expecting him be the same kind of player.
I'd feel better about both positions if we had simply taken a RB where we took Felton and a Safety where we took Ingram-Dawkins, though I do like the looks of both of those players.

Felton over Tuten has the potential to be a real sore spot, especially with Tuten’s KR ability. He’s a legit threat and with the new KR rules it’s going to be important again. Felton might have the chops, but Tuten has proven to be a game changer.
Having Nailor’s replacement in house a year early is ok, but we’re talking 52 pass attempts for WR3 last year. Roster construction wise this was a miscalculation in my opinion. Unless this is a RB class with 24 guys eventually being drafted, we’ll spend more draft capital next year than we would have this year. It’s Econ 101.

Is Tuten just another Kene Nwangwu? Fumbler with speed and kick return ability?
I do wish we would have tapped a RB on Day 3. We'll find out if it was a mistake or not in a few years. Mason was basically our RB pick this year with the late round pick swap to get him here.

Big difference IMO. I remember watching Kene's tape at Iowa State and saying this guy will never be a running back in the NFL. Special packages, gadgets, return stuff, sure. But he's never going to line up in the backfield and run between the tackles.
Tuten went in the 4th round for a reason; he's got to clean up his ball control. But I feel pretty confident he'll be a pretty good 3-down back in the NFL.

90 year old epileptics have more wiggle than Kene. Tuten has some pop behind his pads, speed, and decent vision. He runs more physical than his size indicates. Definitely needs to clean up the fumble issue, but that’s pretty coachable.

Kinda makes me wonder. Earlier this year there was a lot of trade buzz surrounding Travis Etienne. Actually that buzz continues to this day among Jags insiders. We talked about it a bit on the board before trading for Jordan Mason, but I still have a hard time looking at our RB depth chart and thinking "ok, good to go."
Since then the Jags drafted not just Tuten but also LeQuint Allen to go with Tank Bigsby, Etienne and a middle rounder last year. Seems a bit crowded to me.
StickierBuns wrote:
Crowded because they don't have one great RB. Allen is a 7th rounder. This is a big year for Bigsby to prove himself. Tuten's a 4th rounder. Tons to prove in that RB room.
LeQuint Allen was a 7th rounder only because of the draft class and the fact that he was hurt at the combine and failed to work out. Any other year he's probably a 3rd or 4th rounder. Kiper in fact had him as his 3rd ranked back before the combine. Anyway, the point is, everything the Jags have done suggests an Etienne trade coming at some point.
