Carr with a shoulder injury
The #Saints suddenly have a major QB question: Starter Derek Carr is now dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for this season, sources say.

Honestly, I’d stick with Rattler and use the 9 for anything else.

+1
Sanders in NOLA is right as rain...
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
The #Saints restructured Derek Carr’s contract this offseason, lowering his 2025 cap hit but pushing his 2026 cap number to a massive $69.2M.

Not so fast. This is the worst possible scenario for the Saints….
- Since everyone now knows they need a QB they have to move up the draft to a spot where another QB needy team can’t jump them
- They will lose draft picks (which they can’t afford to) in order to get the player they want. This news makes it more costly.
- If this news had not come out, they could have still drafted Sanders (since a few people thought they were out of the QB market)
- If this injury was last season they would not only lose draft picks but have to pay Carr who will be in no mood to give them a discount since they drafted his successor and who might be out this season.
All these could have still happened minus point one and the Saints were in control. They just lost all leverage.
I would not be surprised if Carr’s people leaked this news (if they got intel the Saints were going to draft his successor) especially if they can prove the injury happened last season
Biggest winners: Patriots and Jags. The two teams that don’t need a QB and where you need to be to get one of the “rated” QBs

Aaron Rodgers reading this and saying, "Wrong team, dammit."
I see NO trading back up into the first for a QB. Not sure who runs their cap either, but why have they always kicked the can down the road with the cap. It just makes your future awful to manage.

I can see the league wanting him to go to NY. What about Vegas? I have that feeling that the league wouldn't mind that.

Russini seems to be getting more like Florio as time goes on. Florio is the king of throwing shit at a wall to see if it sticks, or just flat making things up!
Fishy? They could be right. Guess we will find out soon enough.
I think it is a pretty “fishy” surgery. Not fishy in the sense that it puts any pressure on the Saints to do something for him, but more fishy in the sense that he’s probably got a JJM injury, where you could shut him down, do a better surgery that offers him better long term outlooks or you could do something minor or play through it.
I think it’s pretty clear that the Saints are in a multiyear rebuild. Carr playing or not playing probably doesn’t affect their outlook that much, he’s probably not their future and they probably would have moved on already if they could afford to. Why sacrifice his future for a team that he’s not going to be a part of? Do things right and set up his future for a stronger finish on the end of his career.

I heard that Sanders wasn't attending some time ago. I assumed it was his decision. Hard to believe the NFL wouldn't want the high profile Sanders to be the highlight of their prime time circus!
