Lions OC Ben Johnson hired by the Bears.

That didn't take long.

Lmao what could possibly go wrong here..

Also, did anybody catch the Liam Coen press conference today? I'll stand on my statement that this is the worst NFL head coach hiring carousel I've ever seen. Just brutal

For whatever reason, the Jacksonville job isn't that enticing....and Coen is a nutbag. He's brutal behind the mic. And although the national media is slobbering all over Aaron Glenn, I don't think its a homerun hire at all. Remains to be seen.

I think it was mostly Baalke. Nobody wanted to work with him. I feel like Jacksonville probably isn’t the most desirable spot, but a lot of guys would have given it a go if they felt they would have been given an honest chance.

I saw people on the NFL subreddit (probably Saints fans), and they were talking about it like, the Saints would be giving the coach assurances that this would be like a 5 year commitment, 2 years to blow it up and then start a 3 year rebuild.  I just don’t see how that can be a given.  Very few teams can commit to a long term vision, after 3 years of sucking, whether it’s their fault or not, that coach is probably getting fired because everything will be stale, the locker room vibes are going to suck because all the players know it’s just a paycheck at that point.  They’ll be ready for a breath of fresh air and bring in a new coach.

If I was a coach that was getting multiple HC interviews, I’d probably just wait it out.  Maybe I’d consider doing it a year at a time.  Something like $20M a year, but only for a year.  Keep my options open.  Maybe if everyone saw me overperforming that job, it would open up other options?  I just don’t know how you would commit to like a 4 year deal or something.

Back in the 70's when anyone hired a coach they would often say "We're on a 5-year plan." I haven't heard that in a long, long time. A lot of owners these days are on a one-year plan - hire a guy, get pissed, fire him after a year. Or 2 or 3 if they feel patient.

I dont know if I ever recall seeing something that extensive in one off-season.

That's crazy!

You look at the position they were and moved on to and its clearly a promotion each time.

I dont know what the Lions org could have done to keep some/all theses guys???

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Along with former NFL head coach Chip Kelly, Pete's bringing his son along too.

Brennan Carroll has been named the Raiders new offensive line coach and running game coordinator. Brennan was University of Washington Offensive Coordinator + OL Coach for the past year and prior to that had stops at Arizona, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Hurricanes and USC.

Packers promoting former NFL QB Sean Mannion to QBs coach

The Green Bay Packers are promoting offensive assistant coach and former NFL quarterback Sean Mannion to quarterbacks coach, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Long-time quarterbacks coach Tom Clements is retiring from football following the 2024 season, which opened the position in Green Bay.

Mannion, 32, was added to the Packers coaching staff as a first-time assistant helping in the quarterback room ahead of the 2024 season.

Mannion is very smart. Helped the starting QB a ton. I think he will be a good coach.

Agreed

LaFleur is a good coach and has a good staff. Mannion should continue that.

For some reason that team is usually able to trot out good OL's and good running games. I think a big part of that is coaching.
