Did Hyundai ever get their security system fixed? There are online step by step instructions to steal them. My daughter had one but had to sell because of rampant theft.

I have a Hyundai. When I heard about the issue I bought a steering lock (which they are supposed to reimburse me for but never did) and then as soon as they announced the tech fix I took it to a dealer and had it done. So the technique for stealing them no longer works if you get the update. They also put stickers at the bottom of your front side windows showing that you've had the fix, hopefully to prevent idiots from breaking in to do a steal that doesn't work any more.

I absolutely hate car insurance. We have two vehicles and we are seriously considering going down to one because I only use the car really to go to the gym. In south Florida, rates are high regardless of how little you use the car and not having any accidents or tickets. We get the smallest of discounts for those things. It's bullshit. Its gross what a colossal waste of money vehicles are. Rant over.

My kids rates in LA are absurd as well...

20% increase here in MN the last 14 mos. It is getting absurd here too.

Back to the original topic, I think its great consumers can purchase items in more/more platforms. As long as you can keep the guard-rails up and people safe from scams.

I personally would not buy a car through Amazon, but I would be fine ordering direct from the mfgr. Tesla has worked that model for years and now Scout is doing the same (to the chagrin of the dealer network).

I haven't bought a car on Amazon, but I did discover that you can pretty easily buy a car from a dealer anywhere in the country on most of the car sites.

Last summer I was looking for a very specific year, make, model and color and had trouble finding it in Denver. I broadened the search to the entire country and went from no result to dozens. The further away it is, the more it cost to have it shipped, but usually only about $400-$600. And sometimes the difference between the price in Colorado and the price in, say, Iowa, can more than make up the shipping cost.

I ended up buying a totally different car locally, so I can't tell you what the transaction was like, but I don't think I'd have a problem buying a car without having driven it.
