Siefert responding to a tweet about the Jets not bringing Rodgers back....

Kevin Seifert@SeifertESPN
?
Vikings have one QB under contract for 2025 and he has never played a down of regular-season NFL football. It's happening. ?

Uh...no. Normally, I ignore the baggage and welcome an experienced backup QB to our roster. Daniel Jones for example. I endorse that one fully (with a new contract). But not this guy. Not this feckin' guy. No way.

Typical Jets. Seriously, if the league ever considered annexing a franchise, the Jets should be towards the top of that list

I think the word you are looking for is contracting,   or possibly  exporting?

The worst two years of being a Viking fan for me were having to stomach seeing Favre in purple, it was really hard to watch.  I'd rather go through Les Steckel and 3-13.  Honestly, while I was upset at the time, I am glad we did not go to the Super Bowl that one year, because having to see him forever in our history highlights as him winning us our first Super Bowl would not have been worth it.  I could not go through that again, no way could root for Rodgers regardless of what uniform he is wearing.

I loved having Favre in Purple.  That was an awesome season and probably the closest we have come to going to and winning a SB if it wasn't for Bountygate.  Minus Gary Andersons miss.

09 was fun,  when they ran it back in 10, but you could tell that the same effort and enthusiasm wasnt there, it got old in a hurry.

It was for me too...I still remember Favre to Lewis.

I didnt realize how emotionally vested I became in that year until after Bounty Gate. I hadn't felt like that at the end of a game since 98.

Stayed with me a while too.

Pants on the ground huh?

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I had 2 season tickets in 08. I had 6 season tickets in 09. 09 was a lot of fun.
But I don't want anything to do with Rodgers.

According to
@DWolfsonKSTP
, he thinks there’s a better chance that #Giants QB Daniel Jones goes to the #Vikings this offseason rather than #Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, he mentioned on @SKORNorth

I dont see Rogers playing on a 10 mill a year deal for anybody, especially if he wasnt the locked in starter... and I even have my doubts that Jones stock has dropped to that level as there is likely some team that will think they can handle him better that he was in NY and offer more.

If they think thats its JJMs job and he is going to be healthy,  I really dont see them spending much on the back up QB spot,  likely Mullins job once again,  or maybe Rypien?

Dimes at backup pay to compete with JJM? All for it. Rogers? I would gag but you can’t rule it out on a 1 year deal

JJM is the future, but if Sammie was ok with 2 years with 40 guaranteed? I’d be all over it.

Agree. I think Jones would be a helluva backup option. He's only 27 and there's an outside chance he could be another reclamation project under KOC. Big kid, good arm, and runs well too. Rodgers makes zero sense on so many levels. And yes, they're talking about a backup. If the Vikings were worried about JJM's knee and wanted a starter to hedge their best, they would just work out something with Darnold.

I dont see Jones wanting to come to MN to try and re-establish his career. It was an option for SD because the plan never was to start JJM, so Sam could come in and about be assured of at least roughly half the year or more depending on his play. If JJM is healthy it sounds like its his job, so for Jones there is no clear path back to becoming a starter through MN.

I agree with this, unless...he wants to take the Darnold route and sit learning behind one of the better offensive coaches in the league as a backup and the Vikings are certainly talented enough where if he got pushed into action, the pieces are there for him to succeed. If Jones is going the one year backup QB route, I'd have to think the Vikings would certainly be high on the list of potential destinations.

If, and this is a huge "If", Darnold gets us to the Superbowl this season he won't be leaving us. He will be a hero in a very good line of QBs that couldn't get us there.

The Vikings love McCarthy AND they want to operate with that rookie contract. Sam is GoneVille after this year. There's no competition for the starting role, its JJ's.

He will be leaving us. Tag and trade in this scenario. Staff loves JJ and so does KOC.

I don't see the team tagging Darnold under any circumstance. They won't want to limit his ability to pick a new team that he feels will be the best fit for him. In fact, I expect that when it comes time for Darnold & his agent to choose their new destination, they'll lean heavily on KOC for his opinion.
