Not sure if many noticed but Dalton Risner played over Ed Ingram yesterday. Haven't heard about an injury to Ingram so this appears to be a move to upgrade the RG position.

The results? Meh. I'm sure Risner was rusty after missing several weeks, but he didn't play all that well, at least according to PFF,  earning a 55 grade in pass blocking and a 48 in run blocking. Before he was benched, Ingram graded 66, 78 and 76 in pass pro his last three games.

I'm not worried about Risner. He'll continue to get better the more he plays. The bottom line is our offense goes as far as the passing game takes us, and Risner is the better career pass blocker.

sometimes it's about having confidence. I think Ingram was a weakest link on the OL. Risner has been given a chance. Let's see how he does after a few more games. Then I think we can develop a comprehensive opinion.

Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.

Risner looked rusty and out of football shape, still I don’t remember him nearly getting Sam killed, which seemed to happen to Ingram 2x per game.

Risner’s ‘veteran moxie’

O’Connell said he’s “really happy” with the way right guard Dalton Risner played in his season debut. Coaches tapped Risner to replace guard Ed Ingram, a third-year starter whose struggles were deemed unacceptable during the 12-7 win in Jacksonville.

“Did some good things ... a really good front,” O’Connell said of Risner, who started 11 games last year at left guard.

“He battled. I thought he showed some of that veteran moxie to kind of win some downs that were some hard downs. And then there are some things that I think he’ll continue, just with the speed and physicality of it, to find his groove.

So, I was really happy with the way Dalton stepped in, and just kind of with the poise of the veteran we’re looking for.”

Several weeks,  when was his last game action?  Last season wasnt it?   Thats a long lay off and then to face Simmons and Sweat...come on man.  I wasnt blown away by his results,  but all things considered i would give his first outing of the year more than a meh...  now if it had been cousins back there,  im sure he would have given up a sack or 3,  but then again Ingram would have been likely double that.

Brandel, Bradbury and Risner were solid.

They played decent and they didn't allow Simmons and Sweat to wreck the Viking Offense
I didn't have Hakiem Nicks flashbacks.

IMHO Ingram would've struggled. Shrewd move to make the switch when KOC did.

Risner needed the work.

Yah, against that DL raised some eyebrows.

Sam was running for his life quite a bit and Jones struggled. He's probably still very sore today.
