Caleb does have a long ways to go...I think he'll be just fine though.

Are the Bears paws a little dirty having him start so early?

Game looks way too fast for him right now and he wasn't that good from the pocket in college. NFL speed is way different. Lots of times he hit the top of his drop and the ball isn't out... with the talent they have at WR, someone is NFL open.

I'm sure he will get better, but it's probably going to be a process. Rome Oduze having an MRI on his knees today which doesn't help Williams cause.

Early overreaction is the Lions are still the class of the division (how about that bust Jameson Williams?) Packers have no shot without Jordan Love. Bears will be a work in progress, and our guys in purple...we'll find out over the next few weeks but week 1 was encouraging. Going to be a fun, competitive division to watch all year.

At the bold...

I'm sure he'll get better too.

Manning and Aikman struggled their rook years and are HOF. I'm not predicting anything for the kid, including him being the next Trubisky.

But he wasn't the #1 overall pick without some pretty high upside.

He's quirky and does his own thing, which is going to rub some fans in all the wrong ways.

Only reason I wont root for him is cause he's a Bear.

His accuracy is not good, and I didn't notice it that much looking at his college film. The only reason they won that game yesterday was that Will Levis was actually worse than Caleb.

I thought it was interesting how much some of these coaches put on their rookies plate rather than give them help. Bo Nix threw it 40 times in his debut. Jayden Daniels had 40 combined passes and rushes.

Conventional wisdom would suggest you run the ball pretty heavily and make life easier for your QB while they're getting acclimated.

I know CHI has a good defense but I was surprised how bad Levis looked. Wonder if he'll turn it around. If he doesn't soon, TEN will be drafting QB in April.

Bryce Young I thought would take a step forward too. NOPE. Probably safe to call that prediction wrong lol.

Kirk I have said all along I had serious concerns about his Achilles, so his dud wasn't surprising to me. Why everyone was giving him a clean bill of health all summer, I'm still not sure. Rodgers is old but he had more zip on his throws than Kirk to my eyes. He also has had longer to recover.

Overall, QB play leaguewide wasn't great on Sunday. TDs and passing yards are down drastically YOY, likely due to no one playing much in the preseason.

Of all the QBs, Darnold was probably the one who played "above his head" the most, versus what people thought might happen. Baker and Carr too.

Fun weekend, so glad NFL is back.

Darnold is going on year 7 and I was hoping they kept him to 30 or > pass attempts on Sunday.

Those are crazy #'s for a rook qb, game 1.

Plenty of stories about #1 picks that went bust at the QB spot.

I wonder if more QBs taken #1 overall go bust than succeed. Or maybe even widen it to top 10 now that teams go nuts taking 2nd and 3rd round (or lower, Trey Lance) QB prospects at the top of the draft.
