Asked after Wednesday's first training camp practice if he's expecting a suspension from the NFL for his July 12 arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence, Addison said, "I'm not sure what's going on. I own up to whatever it is, whatever disciplinary actions that come my way. I'm going to stand tall, get through it.

Same thing . Whatever is out there for me, I'm going to stand on all 10 and take whatever come with it. I own up to everything. I feel anything that comes my way was meant to happen or is deserved. So I'll do what I do."

California Highway Patrol officers found Addison, 22, asleep at the wheel of a Rolls-Royce while blocking lanes of traffic on a highway near Los Angeles International Airport. On July 20 of last year, he was cited for going 140 miles per hour – 85 mph above the speed limit — on I-94 in St. Paul. He pleaded guilty to a petty misdemeanor, paid a $686 fine and told reporters, "I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry."

On Wednesday, Addison wouldn't discuss details of his recent arrest, citing advice from his attorney and his agent. He shifted quickly to the support he's received from teammates.

"This is probably the most peace I've felt being out here with my teammates," he said. "They welcomed me. They had their arms around me through the whole situations. I'm still JA. I'm going to show them every day that I'm going to move past it and keep learning."

Receiver Justin Jefferson said teammates trust Addison's character.

"No one knows Jordan besides the people in this building," Jefferson said. "We know what he's going through and what type of situation he is in. We're telling him to lean on us and talk to us about anything he's going through. We always will be here for him."

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday he will wait for the NFL's investigation and the legal process to play out before deciding whether Addison warrants punishment from the team.

"Of course, we're disappointed in Jordan," O'Connell said. "We care about these players. We really do. We want to make sure we're doing our part on the development on the field and the other aspect of that is off the field and life skills and decision-making and learning how important it is within our culture that we're very proud of that our players understand personal responsibility and accountability."

As for guaranteeing there isn't another arrest that he'll be asked to explain, Addison said he'll just "take it one day at a time. Just put one foot in front of the other. Just come out here and score touchdowns for my team. Be a great teammate. Be a great son. Be a great brother. And just keep learning from my mistakes. I ain't got it all figured out right now, but I'm just going to keep moving forward. … Can't no adversity make me break. I'm just going to be me."

Addison also thanked teammates for lifting his spirits when he was "down trying to block the world out" as people on social media responded to news of his arrest.

"It be a lot on me sometimes when things come out in the media," Addison said. "A lot of people that's reading it don't know who I am for real. They're just judging me from the incident. They're not around me. They don't know what I do for people outside of football. It be tough. I'm just trying to keep going, make the main thing the main thing, and just score touchdowns for the squad."

I'm still really curious about the substance(s) in question, I've only heard a rumor or two.

Well duh his teammates are "supporting" him. We've got 1 dead CB, another blew his ACL, and TJ is still recovering from his ACL. They know that if Addison goes off the rails our receiving corps is suddenly Jefferson/Powell/Mundt/Who the F knows. And now our CB room is Griffin/Murphy/Evans/Booth/Shelley. Yikes.

He seems like a young, immature and insecure guy. Has a good support system in Minnesota. Its up to him.

Exactly...

This type of immaturity with that kinda $ doesnt usually mix well...Imagine Addison out in Vegas or So Beach?  He is lucky to be with this staff - for reasons he cant even fathom yet.

The Vikings are in a tough spot with this guy. Forgiveness and hope is their only choice at this point.
His interview gave me no confidence he has learned anything from his mistakes. I would think about trading him!

Nope no taking responsibility or owning up to what he did. “I’m just gonna be me?” Who you are got you where you are. I think we need Chris Carter in the bldg.

Would “taking responsibility” be the same thing as publicly admitting to committing a crime, which is likely against the advice of his lawyer?

I mean Cris Carter talked about finding a fall guy. In the article he said he is sorry but I need more than words from him. He needs to get his head out and just do the work. Hopefully he learns from it. Actions speak louder than words

Vikings WR Jordan Addison charged with misdemeanor DUI after July 12 arrest

Addison, the Vikings’ first-round pick in 2023, could face a three-game NFL suspension as a result of the case.

Addison was charged on July 31 with driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with blood-alcohol content over California’s legal limit of .08 percent, after officers found him asleep behind the wheel of a white Rolls-Royce blocking lanes of a highway near the airport. He has an Oct. 7 appearance in Los Angeles court to be arraigned and enter his plea for the charges. If he is convicted or pleads guilty, he could face up to six months in jail, pay fines up to $2,000 or lose his driver’s license for up to six months.

According to the NFL’s policy and program on substances of abuse, players face a three-game suspension for their first criminal offense regarding alcohol use, absent any aggravating circumstances that would lead to further discipline. Addison was cited for driving 140 mph on Interstate-94 in St. Paul last July, but was not charged with any alcohol- or drug-related offenses in that case, which could help him avoid harsher penalties related to his July 2024 arrest.

Addison would not discuss details of his arrest at Vikings training camp on July 24, but said he would “own up to whatever disciplinary actions that come my way” as a result of the case. He said he would learn to make better decisions following the arrest, like calling for another driver if he is impaired in the future.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said on July 22 he was “disappointed” in Addison, adding he would talk about discipline and personal accountability with the receiver.

“You wrap your arms around these guys, and you ensure they know that we care,” O’Connell said. “But at the same time, they have to understand things that are going to be acceptable by any stretch.”

I'm sure he's going to get a 3 game suspension minimum...More importantly, if he needs counseling? I hope he gets that addressed.

It's definitely looking that way. Bright side is... Nailor has emerged. Downside is it would be nice to have JJ, Addison, and Nailor for our first couple games against the NYG, 49ers, and Texans.

Vikings should take lead over this instead of waiting for the NFL. Vikings release a statment saying we will suspend Addison in the fourth quarter of all games we are winning by 2 touchdowns or more.
