Tampa game
On a September Sunday 38 years ago, I took a flight from Butte, Montana to Chicago to enter the Navy. Due to the travel, I was unable to watch the Vikings season opener against Tampa. But sitting in O'Hare, waiting for my bus to Great Lakes Naval Station, I saw that the Vikings had lost to Tampa, 17-10 or 21-10...something like that.
The next morning, I read in the paper that, after week 1, the Vikings ranked #1 in offense and also #1 in defense. I thought only the Vikings could play a game that results in them leading the league in both offense and defense....and lose.
The first half of this game reminds me of that.
