He's not injured.

Not playing in a PS game to avoid injury so he can get traded ?

Don't trade JJ.

Last night was a golden opportunity to show the world SOMETHING positive playing against backups after two mediocre-to-bad outings. It's a shame we didn't get to see him try. Like I said before, he's either extremely unlucky with repeated knicks that are juuuust enough to keep him out of games, or there's other stuff going on.

I'll talk to you since JustinTime is raging.

I think there is other stuff going on. If it's true that Wentz is likely QB2 for JJ McCarthy to get a true development year... How do you think that's sitting with him?

Going from QB 1 last season after his Head Coach proclaimed "Franchise QB" after his rookie year ended... to sitting behind not just Kyler but our backup from last year.

There's definitely feelings happening inside TCO... plus I'm sure his agent is telling him not to go out there for a meaningless 3rd preseason game that is basically all dudes fighting for a final roster spot. What's that say about him if he's playing in it? I think we all know. It's because he's not QB2.

Don't get me wrong, as a fan of the Vikings and a guy who really liked this kid coming out... I want him to play every chance he gets.

Something is wrong with the relationship between him and KOC. I'm getting the feeling he's not going to be on the Vikings much longer. Which it's a shame it's come to this.

We'll never know if he stays and it'll come out one day if he leaves/traded.

I hope thats not the case.

The problem is JJM. The 9 character, the griddy into the end zone, his weird faces, admitted mental struggles a few years ago. Injuried to much, inaccurate throws. Everything screams journey men, back up, bust. Yet many still have blinders and ear plugs in. Kwesi screwed this team. Let's move on

He's great at chearing on his teammates from the sidelines, better than Kyler. That has been pointed out to me on other threads

You’d think Blaze would be more popular considering this extremely important issue.

There's also the possibility that they're being perfectly honest. That JJ's ankle just wasn't ready.

I can see that part of it. I also don't think it would have kept him out of a regular season game, however. I think if we are honest with ourselves, JJM has some real growing up to do mentally. Drafted super young. KOC had his patience run out. I also believe that KOC may understand that he will be a late bloomer. Maybe why he still makes the team.

You wouldn't understand the meaning behind Jordan or what his name represents. Go take your ball and go home.

I find the visceral, unvarnished response entertaining tbh. But it's also too much on some boards.

I think (overall) the conversation here has been civil and people have presented their positions well.

The optics were bad imo. Potentially bad in the building and locker room too.

Certainly bad among fans on the fence or who've already written the kid off.

Not sure if McCarthy cares about that or not anymore? It's a potential sign of disengagement if he doesnt.

Definitely a falling off with JJM and something on the team. Yet to be determined if that is KOC or not. I believe KOC truly understands QBs and he must see JJM as a late bloomer. That happens with super young immature QBs. IF he is on the final 53 then we may know the answer to that.

Honestly, I’m not sure which is worse: the haters or the glazers. For some, JJ holds no responsibility for the situation he’s in. I can understand the complete frustration of the haters because it’s pretty damn disappointing.

But, those that turn a blind eye to everything? Or just makeup complete falsehoods? That’s a little weird to me.

There. Somebody finally said it. JJ has had a chance and hasn't been able to do anything with it. Even if he can turn it around he certainly doesn't appear durable enough to be a dependable NFL QB.

Durability is a legit issue imo.

But if you trade him now? You'll get some change and pocket lint for your troubles...

As long as he's not a locker room issue, best to keep him while he's on rook contract. You never know when the bulb goes off and I'd rather have that be with us.

Oh and say a prayer or 2 for progress...

I'm still hoping his story here doesn't mirror Levis in Tn.

JJ opted for the full surgery for his meniscus tear. Definitely the better option for the post career life. The trim option would have had him back in less than a month. Based on everything we know now, I think the trim would have been better for his career. We’ll never know for sure, but I’ll always wonder about that.
