Kneeland Had CTE

Oh man, 24 years old...Just a kid still.
Is the shield doing enough to protect its player assets? The players union?
I dont know?
It seems like concussion protocols have improved, but I'm no dr. either.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
The NFL just hired Dr Myron Rolle to assist/guide towards a deeper understanding of CTE.

How are they going to stop CTE without turning it into flag football? It’s just not going to happen.
90% of the players have CTE or some crazy numbers like that. No amount of technology is going to stop the brain from slamming into the inside of the skull when a player goes from 20 mph to 0 mph in an instant or when a helmet hits the ground.
Like you’d probably have to change the playing surface to something that slowed them down significantly, like playing in a 12 in pool of water.
The precise percentage of all NFL players with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is unknown, as the condition can only be definitively diagnosed after death. However, a major Boston University study found evidence of CTE in 91.7% (345 out of 376) of examined brains donated by former NFL players. [1, 2]
While these numbers are alarmingly high, experts caution that this is not a representative sample of all living players. Because the brains were donated by families suspecting brain trauma, the data is subject to selection bias. For a broader perspective, a large study of nearly 2,000 living former players showed that 34% believe they suffer from CTE, heavily correlating with memory loss, chronic pain, and depression.

Every civilization had it's "gladiators". Could be worse. We could throw them in a arena with a hungry lion, chop off their head on a pyramid or throw them in a volcano.

I think the league is doing some things, now that everyone knows they had to do something. Also these are grown adults and they are making informed decisions. It's a business so they are profit motivated to do something. It very sad that a 24 year old lost his life this way. I am not sure what else can be done.

Maybe for the country’s 251th birthday?

We could probably build the biggest colosseum ever on top of a volcano, and then trap door people if need be.
Interesting topic. Talked with an NFL player 7 years ago or so and he said CTE is more of a money grab. (his words not mine)
Safety is important but ask a guy would he want his knees taken out or hit in the head they usually say head. I understand its not either or.
If you ask young men would you work a dangerous job that makes good money but there is a risk of permanent injury.. most will say yes.
There are far more deadly occupations then the NFL. Per AI the NFL is way way down the list.

Good perspective. Also, no matter what the league does, the players have the choice, and many press hard to get back out there. Some figure it out too late, like Kelly last year, but they do figure it out.
I didn't play college or NFL, but I have lasting effects from HS football and then getting knocked out cold playing pickup basketball. But I still play because I enjoy it.
If you don't get that CTE is real and prevalent, not sure what to say, lol........honestly. Might want to look up the Boston University medical study on it.
