Like I said, if OConnell wants to dig his own grave, have at it...and somebody just gave him a shovel. For all the bitching that guy did last year about McCarthy and having to "dumb down" the offense, this is a fit that makes absolutely no sense. Murray has been abysmal throwing the ball downfield on time and with accuracy. Steve Smith said the other day in referencing the potential pairing of Murray with Jefferson that the last thing you want as an elite receiver is an improviser at quarterback or someone who can't consistantly drive the ball down the field from the pocket. Both of those are huge Murray issues so for everyone thinking Jefferson is whooping it up at this signing, think again.

Love hearing how he grew up a Viking fan during his press conference and the story that he cried when Favre threw the interception. Two years in a row bringing in a QB who grew up a Viking fan. Seems like a good kid, who is pretty sincere, grounded, grateful and ready to come in and work hard.

All Lombardi winners.
You quoted my second line, but did you read it?
I'm very aware of the teams involved, I'm also very aware that AZ is a mess...and so are we, unable to break past the Wild Card round, or make the playoffs for two straight seasons under KOC.
I'm simply pointing out realities.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

This is not a meaningful argument. They wanted to tank and he'd have won games they didn't want to win. They benched him after 5 games and went 1-11 with Jacoby. Their plan was lose out, fire everyone, unload Kyler's salary and start over.

It's still plenty meaningful in that they felt the best way forward was to park a few dozen million dollars in the first place.

I like JjM, but really like this signing.
Best option for this year.

We definitely needed a more experienced quarterback room this season. Not going to find a QB much cheaper.
JJM…the one complaint I have with him, he couldn’t stay healthy. Hopefully that changes and this is a reset year.
You knew something was off the way the receivers performed last year.
We have a lot of holes that need filled and have to have a productive draft this year.

Nah bro he’s clearly Drew Brees /s
I’ll get on board with this eventually because I do still have trust and faith in our Head Coach and this is what he wants. But right now I’m wrapping my head around Rosen and McCarthy both being top 10 picks who got about 10 starts and were benched for Kyler Murray.
EDIT- I hope this team drafts defense early and often. Seen it too many times recently where the Vikings have a good/great defense and then the next season it flops. We have good players returning but the offense is loaded now according to fantasy football experts, so I hope the defense gets some Day 1 and 2 love this year.

Whatever….I see this whole thing making the Hindenburg look like a picnic, but as a Vikings fan I idle at miserable.
In all reality Kyler will probably get everyone’s hopes up only to end up crushing them at the end of the year. But He’ll do well enough that the Vikings will be afraid of letting go of the next “Darnold” again, so we’ll sign him to a 50+ million a year deal while we trade McCarthy to another team.
Kyler then regresses like he did the last time he got paid, KOC gets fired, Jefferson gets traded to another team, and JJ probably wins a chip succeeding Matt Stafford in LA.
Minnesota never drafts another young QB and we continue on the never ending carousel of washed up retread QBs until the end of time.

He can't blame Kwesi on this one, right? The shine is off OConnell for me. There was just so much incredibly bad in the quarterback room (his area of "expertise"), which was his doing. I don't believe the style of offense he wants to run is condusive to winning in the postseason and he DOES NOT want to deviate from that as evidenced by every quarterback who took a snap last season. So again, how is Kyler Murray, who is the complete opposite of the few that have had success under OConnell, a good fit to run the "chuck and duck" offense? I don't see this going well and our best hope (IMO) is that McCarthy gets the nod to play and he plays well.
