From a football perspective, this is the best outcome for the Vikings in FA. McCarthy has already gone 6-4 as a starter. If not for the WTF injuries (high ankle sprain, concussion and breaking his finger on a helmet), McCarthy takes them to the playoffs. What killed the season was not having a viable backup. Wentz beat the Burrow-less Bengals and the Browns, and lost the rest of his games. Brosmer was so bad it was comical.
If as expected Kyler is the starter, I have WAAAAYYYY more faith in JJM as a backup to come in when necessary than I did in last year's clown show. And vice versa.
