Anyone think JJ McCarthy...

Guys I just do not see a scenario that leaves room for JJ after signing Kyler. Kyler will dominate first team reps the entire offseason, and this "competition" will fade into getting Kyler ready for the season.

IMO, signing Kyler Murray boils down to....If he's good, they re-sign him long term and go from there. If he's not, you go into next offseason with no head coach, no GM, and no QB.

I think JJ will approach this like he does every hurdle: head down and try and rise to the challenge.

So you are saying that there are no examples in the history of the NFL of someone who was the backup to start the season ever taking over the starting job at some point during the season, just no chance of that ever happening  Cool

Luckily Randall Cunningham didn't feel that way in 1998.

IMO, that is the only chance JJM has left with the organization: Murrays fails, JJ goes in for him and lights it up. That's it. Because KOC is going to put all of his focus and energy now on revamping a Kyler Murray 2.0 from this point forward and McCarthy is going to be eating table scraps.

I understand what you are saying, but from a pure technicality perspective, we’re going to have a new GM this offseason so the GM will have most of the year to get acclimated and come up with two plans (run it back, and blow it up) and we’re still going to have JJM for the new HC to evaluate.

Even if Kyler starts the year, he’s most likely going to get injured for some games, if not several.  JJM would start those games, so you’re going to have more tape on him, and probably be a year removed from his meme-worthy antics.

The only reason to move on from JJM after 10 games is if he’s a real ass hat that you no longer want in the building.

What I’m saying is: in the history of the NFL there has never been a young QB that started for a year, was completely replaced the year after and came back to be a long term starter of his team. E v e r.

KOC is potentially laying his career at the feet of Kyler Murray

I honestly believe that if Kyler bombs. We will be going into next season with no QB, no GM and no head coach.

New GM trades everyone and we start from scratch.

Lets just see if they even sign Murray...

I'm not convinced that even if they do, this is the end of JJM in MN. No need to rehash the why's again here.

Crazy stuff happens in this league and particularly with the Vikings.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I don't see JJM doing that, he wants to prove himself

After fifty plus years of going hungry, we're not a patient bunch by any means, but I trust JJM will get it sorted out. It's just his durability(same with Kyler) that I worry about. Frankly, I don't care if Hitler is taking snaps from Goebbels - I want to see The Vikings win a Lombardi trophy before I die.
