Anyone think JJ McCarthy...
#1
Asks for his release if we sign Kyler?  I mean it would be a very clear message that we're moving on from him.  Say what you will about a "competition", but Kyler (if signed) will need every rep he can get with the first team to learn a new system, leaving none for McCarthy.

Can't say I'd blame him

Doubt that will happen. Hopefully JJ will work that much harder to earn the job.

I think its a true competition, but assuming Kyler is being handed the job, I don't think it really matters. The Vikings would be stupid to get rid of JJM at this point, no matter how much he wanted it.

Even if he did ask for his release, I don't think it'd get out of the building and even if his agent leaked a rumor, I think you just tell him no, its not happening.

I do not think it even crossed his mind. If you are going to be successful in the NFL you have to be able to accept challenges and overcome them, not run away from them.

Also, it is not like we traded for Joe Burrow. It is a 1 year minimum contract for a guy who has had his own ups and downs in the league. It is not like McCarthy could not possibly beat him out or get an opportunity at some point during the season if Murray does become the starter.

Even if he did/does want out it's much more likely that the Vikings would trade him before the public ever hears loud rumblings from McCarthy's camp I think.

nope,  sends completely the wrong message that as a FA that he would want out there with his resume being as incomplete as it is.  who wants a guy that hasnt stayed healthy,  and is afraid to compete for his job?   and unless sticky has blowing complete smoke up our asses about JJMs inner dog.... this is the kind of  thing that should have Rocky soundtracks playing on constant loop in JJMs head.

as a supporter of JJM,  I hope they sign Murray,  and I hope Murray never sees a live snap.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Yeah I think it would happen sooner or later.
