You'll be seeing an Aidan Hutchinson - Will Fries fight
Posted by: StickierBuns - 08-27-2025, 09:12 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (1)

You heard it here first. Aidan is a dog and a half, an excellent player with tons of attitude. Will Fries is an enforcer/protector he pops guys and lets them know about it. Yep, Hutch will be on Darrisaw's side mostly but not always...they'll move him over O'Neill sometimes. And any stunt or chip that Fries gets with Aidan, he's going to give it to him. You're going to see the Vikings O-line be feisty for the first time in awhile, its going to be contagious. But Aidan and Will are going to get heated after the whistle, guaranteed. We are finally going to punch back on both sides of the football, because the D and Jon Allen are those guys as well.

"Between the rookies and the 11 free agents who made the team, the Pats have turned over 41.5% of the roster from last season. They aren't done, nor should they be."

Drake Maye is on his 2nd offensive coordinator and they just turned over a major part of their roster....and most disturbing, he's got Bradbury as his center.

People talk about Caleb tanking, keep an eye on what IMO is the 2nd best chance to disappoint guy in the group, Drake Maye. The temperament intangibles are the ones that make the difference. This is also why I'm low level stoked for Brosmer, he's going to turn out to be a guy you can win games with short term which is ideal QB2 territory, a gamer.

Vikings Set Initial 53-Man Roster for 2025

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings reduced their roster to 53 players on Tuesday in accordance with the NFL's deadline.
Minnesota executed a multipronged approach that began last week with trading veteran defensive lineman Harrison Phillips to the Jets and continued with trades of QB Sam Howell to the Eagles on Sunday and Mekhi Blackmon to the Colts Monday.
A total of 11 players (nine were waived and two had contracts terminated) were released Sunday afternoon, and two more were waived Monday, continuing a reduction from the offseason total of 91 players.
Tuesday's sequence included utilizing Reserve Lists, as well as placing players on waivers and terminating contracts.
Teams have until Wednesday to claim players who were waived and can also sign up to 16 players for their practice squads (17 if one is an International Player Pathway participant). Veterans with at least four accrued NFL seasons whose contracts were terminated by clubs are free to sign at any point.
Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is scheduled to participate in a media session on Thursday.
Here's the first look at which Vikings are on the initial 53-man roster for 2025, which includes 25 players on offense, 25 on defense and three specialists.
Note: Players listed first at each position correspond with starters on the most recent unofficial depth chart, which will be updated for Week 1. All other players are listed alphabetically by last name.

Darrisaw not on short term IR, will start Week 1. That was a pipedream 3 months ago. Good stuff, JJM approves this message.

The Ringer: McCarthy entering unprecedented territory
Posted by: StickierBuns - 08-26-2025, 09:52 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (5)

This is an excellent article:

J.J. McCarthy’s Season Will Be Unprecedented. Are He and the Vikings Ready for It?
The second-year QB missed his rookie season with a meniscus tear, and now he’s inheriting a Minnesota team that won 14 games last year. What did he learn in his year away? And will that be enough against real NFL competition?

https://www.theringer.com/2025/08/26/nfl...n-oconnell

"Given the fleeting nature of success in the NFL, the risk Minnesota is taking is obvious. If McCarthy isn’t ready to play, this will feel like a wasted year for a team that could be in championship contention with just above-average quarterback play. If he is ready, the Vikings could run away with the NFC North. That makes the second-year passer, who hasn’t started a game that counts since he won a national championship with Michigan 19 months ago, one of the main characters of the 2025 NFL season."

A few excerpts:

"All that work seems to have paid off, as was evident on the second day of joint practices. Following a shaky first day, McCarthy lit up the Patriots defense when the teams worked on red zone and two-minute situations. McCarthy’s handling of the offense before the snap was impressive, but it was his decisiveness after the snap that really stood out. He took chances downfield when they were there, connecting with Jordan Addison on countless plays. He hit his outlets when the downfield opportunities didn’t open up, and he scrambled when appropriate. At one point, McCarthy completed 12 passes in a row. “This is the one time it’s good that you guys were keeping some stats,” O’Connell joked after a reporter informed him of the feat. “It felt decisive. [He showed] an incredible amount of conviction in the decisions he made.”

“I think he’s handled that really well,” Greenard continued. “He’s always encouraging us to [push it further]. Like, ‘Hey, keep sending that shit. I need the reps.’ I love that.”

Source: The #Cowboys are waiving rookie WR Traeshon Holden.

The former Oregon Ducks star had a great camp and preseason. Should be strong interest in him on the waiver wire.

Athletic enough to play at Alabama and Oregon. Crafty route runner, bigger at almost 6'3". Very good change of direction. Very doubtful he stays long enough on the waiver wire for Minnesota unfortunately.
