Who's the next great RB to pair with McCarthy?
Posted by: StickierBuns - 07-01-2025, 06:36 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (25)

I'd bet a chunk of change the Viking's draft a RB high next Spring, every upcoming young franchise QB needs an explosive RB to go with the best WRer in the NFL. You can 'feed families' on that as the kid's say Wink So who ideally would you like to see Minnesota take? RBs are always sliders so the Vikings might be able to get a really good one late in round 1. My choice below:

  OG Donovan Jackson
Posted by: StickierBuns - 07-01-2025, 06:07 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (29)

He's just got the build of an NFL OG, doesn't he? Thick, lower to the ground power base, just a dense body type. Hard to move, but conversely moves a lot of people because of that low torque. Smart. Mild demeanor, but flips a switch on game day and brings the dawg out. I think NFL coaching/weight program gets him to 'very good' status....not elite, but way above average. I think he's going to be one of those automatic guys that rarely gets talked about but does his job well every game. That's a homerun for JJM as this line is going to be a major upgrade from what Uncle Sammy had. Ohio State O-linemen when they hit, they hit hard because these are the most talented O-linemen in college football. And I say this as a homage because I'm a Wolverines fan. They do an amazing job recruiting that position.

  Ramsey to the Steelers
Posted by: ArizonaViking - 06-30-2025, 09:59 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (8)

Finding a new home for Jalen Ramsey has finally come to fruition.

The Dolphins are trading the three-time All-Pro cornerback to the Steelers, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Monday.

Pittsburgh is adjusting Ramsey's contract as part of the acquisition, giving him a $1.5 million raise and making his salary this season $26.6 million, per Rapoport and Pelissero.

Rapoport and Pelissero had reported on April 15 that Miami and Ramsey mutually agreed to explore trade options. The draft came and went, as did organized team activities and mandatory minicamp -- which Ramsey didn't attend -- without a move.

One has now transpired on the final day of June -- less than a year after Ramsey signed a three-year extension to stay in South Beach.

I don’t think it’s basketball anymore. It’s a shame if you never got to see the game played this way.

So Atlanta took Penix over McCarthy
Posted by: StickierBuns - 06-29-2025, 09:42 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (20)

Its always been very interesting to me, but I don't think its really been discussed. I knew Nix was going to be the last of the 'Big 6' QBs to go in round 1, but the Falcons decided Penix Jr. was going to be a better investment as a franchise QB than JJ McCarthy. The dynamics of it all are so interesting. Who is going to be proven right, not only with JJM vs. Penix but all the QBs (outside of Daniels who SEEMS to be golden at this point beyond the others).

I have my thoughts but I'll save them for later in this thread after others have chimed in.

Top Ten QBs In Franchise History

Fran is #1 by a considerable margin. No Joe Kapp is quite dubious. Otherwise, not bad.
