  So many questions in Charlottesville...
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-13-2017, 02:01 PM - Forum: Sensitive Topics - Replies (102)

Damn, the perp in the car is what 20 friggin years old?

My opening question is did the city have enough police there to control what was clearly going to be a conflict?

Not that 100 riot police could have stopped a guy in a car intent on killing people. Seems like a copycat of some of the terrorism in Paris and London, using cars or trucks for killing human beings.

Tampa kicker Aguayo canned after one season.

Waived after just one year basically. They moved UP in the 2nd round to draft him. In college he was a perfect 198 out of 198 on PATs. And we thought it was bad with Walsh. How contradictory is kicking in the NFL, right? On one hand, you understand the importance of making FGs and PATs as you draft a talent like this so high, yet you don't give him time to possibly work thru issues and give up on him after just one year. Its because you can't afford the time as a team to let him work it out: it literally means leaving points off the scoreboard. It directly correlates to points in a concrete way.

Why ever draft a kicker before round 7? Let some other team work thru the rough patches and get a more mentally tough guy down the road.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived kicker Roberto Aguayo.

Zimmer analyzes rookies Cook, Elflein’s preseason debuts
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-13-2017, 01:23 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (1)

Two Minnesota Vikings rookies with high expectations got their first chance to put on a purple jersey and face off with another team on Thursday night. Dalvin Cook got nine touches in his debut and Elflein played a large chunk of the game with the second team.On Saturday, the team was back at Winter Park for practice. Head coach Mike Zimmer said Cook didn’t get a ton of opportunities to show all of his talent, but did demonstrate some competitiveness.
“Elflein played very, very well,” Zimmer said. “He had one bad snap, but he played really well. He missed one guy, he took a poor angle.”

I didn't know they changed the horn to white. Is this a special helmet or permanent?

L.Murray: Late best friend ‘will be looking down’

Latavius Murray: Late best friend ‘will be looking down’ when he finally takes field for the Vikings
When Latavius Murray and Jonathan Diaz met two decades ago, they weren’t exactly fast friends.
The two were classmates in kindergarten in Onondaga, N.Y., which borders Syracuse. One day, tensions boiled over.
“We had a fight, and our parents said, ‘Hey, you guys need to make up,’ ’’ Murray said. “And from that moment, our relationship just kicked off. He became like a brother to me.”
Murray and Diaz were best friends throughout their school years. At Onondaga High School, Murray was the star halfback and Diaz led the way as his blocking fullback. When Murray was taken in the sixth round of the 2013 draft by Oakland and made the NFL, he saw Diaz whenever he could, often flying him to Raiders games.
Then came Nov. 24, 2016, early Thanksgiving morning. Diaz was shot to death at age 26 during a dispute over a woman at a Syracuse bar. The news hit Murray hard. He flew home the following week and, choking up, spoke at his best friend’s funeral...

LSU DL Coach Should Lose His Job
Posted by: JustinTime18™ - 08-12-2017, 12:43 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (4)

How much untapped potential between Hunter and Bower did he sit on?

Finally watched the rest of the Bills game...#64 had several nice plays...so did All Vowels...man, we are going to try and slide a good young DE on to the PS and lose a potential starter...I know Patterson thinks Weatherly is going to garner some snaps this year, but so far, IMO, Bower should be our 4th DE...

It's acts like this that show who he really is.
