  Your buddy Riley Reiff

In the N.F.L. 2012 draft, I always thought Riley Reiff was the best tackle. Even better than Matt Kalil. To say that them was taboo. The experts said otherwise and nobody questioned them. Now, we will all get to see who really was the better tackle. Reiff or Kalil.

Vikings’ Michael Floyd says he’s moving forward despite looming suspension
Posted by: purplefaithful - 07-29-2017, 02:05 PM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

MANKATO, Minn. – Michael Floyd used the one-on-one drills during his first day of training camp with the Vikings on Thursday to show what he could potentially bring to the offense. On one occasion he beat second-year cornerback Mackensie Alexander and on another it was Pro Bowl corner Xavier Rhodes who was victimized. The Vikings, of course, will have to wait well into the regular season before Floyd is able to display his talents in a game. The wide receiver has been suspended for the first four games of the season after being arrested for drunken driving last December in Arizona.

In his first comments since the NFL announced the suspension on July 14, Floyd acknowledged, “I’m happy it’s all over, now I can just focus on football and what’s important. … You always hope it’s a lesser suspension, but they gave me what they decided on. I’ve got to live with it and move forward.”
Floyd, who was let go by the Cardinals after his arrest last season and ended the year with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, signed a one-year, $1.4 million non-guaranteed contract with his hometown Vikings this spring.

Koehn giving Forbath a run for the $?
Posted by: purplefaithful - 07-29-2017, 01:56 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (4)

Koehn’s range
Marshall Koehn could take Kai Forbath’s job as the Vikings kicker if Koehn has a preseason as strong as his leg. Undrafted last year out of Iowa, Koehn figured he could still clear a field goal from deep despite forecast 10-to-15-mile-per-hour wind gusts this week.
“With this wind, I think 60 [yards] isn’t out of the question,” Koehn said.

Vikings' Anthony Barr admits it: Sometimes he just didn't try very hard
Posted by: purplefaithful - 07-29-2017, 01:15 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (33)

Barr, entering his fourth NFL season, played a full season for the first time last year, but he didn't produce as much with career-low marks in tackles and sacks. MANKATO – Anthony Barr admitted he can try harder than he did at times last season, which was a down year for the Vikings’ talented linebacker.
Barr, entering his fourth NFL season, played a full season for the first time last year, but he didn’t produce as much with career-low marks in tackles and sacks. He’s a versatile pass defender and a wrecking ball in the Vikings’ blitz schemes at his best. At his worst, he said his effort waned.
“It starts with my effort and picking that up,” Barr said. “That’s a big emphasis for me this offseason and I feel good right now.”
He had taken a step forward in 2015 with seven pass deflections, 3½ sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception. His motor in a 20-10 win at Atlanta, during which Barr forced fumbles on both Tevin Coleman and Matt Ryan, gave a glimpse of his potential.
But those performances weren’t frequent last season, even though the Vikings still ranked as one of the NFL’s best in points and yardage allowed. Barr acknowledged he knows of games and plays when he wasn’t trying as hard, but declined to be specific.

Barr’s comments fall in line with criticism last year from head coach Mike Zimmer, who said the former ninth overall pick had a tendency to “coast” during games.
“We want to see consistency in play and be the impact player that you are,” defensive coordinator George Edwards said of Barr. “One thing you can control is how hard you play.”

“Over my dead (expletive) body”: Vikings react to Packers CEO SB boast
Posted by: purplefaithful - 07-29-2017, 01:52 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (11)

MANKATO — Not surprisingly, Mark Murphy’s boast this week about the Packers’ Super Bowl plans has led to reaction from the Vikings.
The Green Bay president and CEO told team shareholders, “It’s going to be a lot of fun for all our fans to drive across the state when we’re in the Super Bowl in Minneapolis.”

OT: Well we're cutting the cord, a little bit at a time...

Getting rid of 2 joeys and hooking-up an Amazon Fire Stick and Fire TV box. Save $14 a mos. in Joey rentals.  Can access everything on Dish app.

One step at a time lol! I'll see how much else we can pickup with other streaming and apps as we progress.

All I know is the Dish bill has gotten way too high.

Love this guy.  Such an example, work hard, always team first, not about the stats.  The NFL needs more guys like BRob.  Does a great interview as well, not just a parrotting a bunch of cliches.
