This one is easy, well for me, being in the middle of the country and everything I know about the west coast is from TV ads...   It will be some form of Rice-A-Roni, you know, the San Fransisco treat!   Haven't decided on a flavor yet.  What other culinary concoctions is SF known for?

Keep it G rated people...   =)

You're QB1 in the Factory Of Sadness...

DeShone Kizer - QB - Browns

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, it's a "done deal" that Browns second-round QB DeShone Kizer will start Week 1 against the Steelers.

Coach Hue Jackson stopped short of officially anointing Kizer in his post-game remarks, but it's pretty evident which way he's leaning. "I feel comfortable with him," said Jackson of Kizer. "He has the right feel for me and for what I'm looking for." Kizer wasn't great in Saturday's win over Tampa Bay, completing just 6-of-18 passes for 93 yards and an interception. But he's been Cleveland's best quarterback throughout the summer and deserves to lead the rebuilding Browns in 2017. Cabot also hinted that Jackson could make a surprise move by promoting Kevin Hogan to No. 2 on Cleveland's QB depth chart.Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer Aug 27 - 8:46 AM

Ryan joins McCain in Opposing Trump on Arpaio Pardon...
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-26-2017, 10:34 PM - Forum: Sensitive Topics - Replies (56)

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan opposes President Trump's pardoning of former Sheriff Joe Arpaio, an aide said Saturday, joining Arizona GOP Sen. John McCain in criticizing the decision.
"The speaker does not agree with this decision,” said Doug Andres, a spokesman for Ryan. “Law enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States. We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon."
Trump on Friday spared Arpaio, from the Phoenix area, the prospect of serving jail time in granting the first presidential pardon of his turbulent tenure, wiping away the lawman's recent federal conviction stemming from his immigration patrols that focused on Latinos.

Dalvin Cook saving first U.S. Bank Stadium visit for game time
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-26-2017, 04:59 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (3)

Dalvin Cook was offered a tour of U.S. Bank Stadium when he was drafted by the Vikings last April, but he turned it down.
The running back said he wanted to see the stadium for the first time during a game. That will happen Sunday night when the Vikings play host to the San Francisco 49ers in their preseason home opener.
“That’s one of those things that I didn’t want to do,” Cook said of seeing U.S. Bank Stadium devoid of fans. “I just wanted to wait until I got there for real. I’m definitely excited. I know the fans are going to be excited for some football.”
The rookie will start his third straight preseason game for the Vikings...

For secondary depth, Vikings putting trust in youth
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-26-2017, 02:42 PM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

In a salary-capped league, you can either pay a lot of average players average money or you can pay a few good players a lot of money.
For the Minnesota Vikings, five players make up $40.4 million of the total $67 million spent on defense – and $6.75 million of that belongs to Sharrif Floyd, who is currently injured.
So while the Vikings make sure players like Everson Griffen and Linval Joseph get their due, Minnesota is forced to look to young talent (on rookie contracts) to fill out depth spots.

Is Datone Jones on the bubble?
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-26-2017, 02:39 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (8)

With Sharrif Floyd out indefinitely, the Minnesota Vikings hoped to see one of their new three-technique defensive tackles rise to the top during training camp. That wish has been granted, but the player isn’t who the Vikings originally thought would step up.

When camp opened, Jaleel Johnson was competing at backup nose tackle. Since moving to three-technique, however, he’s taken off.
Now the question is: Where does that leave free agent signing Datone Jones?

Battle for starting Center job could be decided vs 49'ers
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-26-2017, 02:37 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (2)

As the Vikings approach their third preseason game, and likely give their starters their largest workload of the exhibition schedule, the battle for their starting center spot continues between Nick Easton and rookie Pat Elflein. Coach Mike Zimmersounded on Friday, though, like he expected the competition to reach its conclusion soon.
“[General Manager] Rick [Spielman] and I spent about an hour this morning, evaluating each guy there, going through all their tapes from the preseason practice and things like that,” Zimmer said...
Asked if he thought the position would be finalized after Sunday’s game against the 49ers, Zimmer said, “I hope so. I think I know how it’s going to go, but things change — injuries, or maybe a guy plays the way you expect him to play, or maybe a guy plays better.”

I'm a casual UFC and boxing fan (I'll watch the big ppvs but that usually amounts to a couple times/year) and I'm going to a bar with some friends to watch this. $20 cover plus drinks so it won't be cheap and in my heart I'd say it's about 85% chance the fight stinks... but on the off chance something awesome happens, I want to see it!

Will you be watching?

Also, to whoever scheduled my fantasy football draft on Sunday morning... not good

$72mm for Tx High School Football Stadium...
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-26-2017, 02:49 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (12)

$72 Million for a High School Stadium? In Texas, It's Only Up from There"We're out on the field getting the Tigers ready for another successful run at a state title," chirps the voicemail for the Katy High School athletics department.
Before being asked to leave your "growl" and "pawprint," you'll learn what the school's marching band sounds like, the number of national (three) and state (eight) football championships the Tigers have won and that Gary Joseph serves as both the head of the athletic department and the head football coach—all without anyone answering the phone.
It's an understatement to say football is important to the Houston suburb, and if the impressive voicemail greeting doesn't convince you, consider the $72 million the district just spent on a new stadium. Yes, for high schoolers...
