Mine is a sentimental & pining ache for the past...How poetic huh?

Greenway says Alex Boone cut for being out of shape
Posted by: purplefaithful - 09-09-2017, 01:54 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (6)

Former Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway said in a radio interview Friday that guard Alex Boone was released because he was out of shape.
The Vikings let Boone go when they cut the roster down to 53 players last Saturday, paying him $3.4 million in guaranteed money on his $6.6 million deal for 2017.
“I had heard through some players that I know that are out there every day that said he came back not the Alex Boone of old, a little bit out of shape, and wasn’t really prepared for the season, and I thought that was pretty interesting,” Greenway said on KFAN.

Logical to assume RS has to produce a winner to keep his job

Souhan: Logical to assume Spielman has to produce a winner to keep his jobThe Vikings have been patient with lack of playoff success over GM Rick Spielman's 12 years. But how long will that last? When Spielman traded for Bradford last summer, he indicated that he believes the current roster can win big. He also might have been thinking, consciously or subconsciously, that he must win big soon to keep his job.
I agree with Spielman. He has built a strong roster, and he should be trying to win big, soon.
But if after a dozen years Spielman has one playoff victory to show for his efforts, the Wilfs will have to question whether Spielman’s efforts have yielded enough results.
I’m not necessarily advocating the firing of Spielman, even if the Vikings falter this year. There is downside risk to every firing. There is great risk that his replacement will turn the Vikings into the 49ers or Jets.
But the Wilfs have achieved almost all of their goals save one. They have learned how to operate an NFL franchise. They have produced playoff teams. They have landed a publicly financed stadium that is the envy of the NFL and is guaranteed to make them wealthier.
All that remains is winning a Super Bowl. A second straight disappointing season this deep in Spielman’s tenure likely would be viewed as problematic for ambitious owners, especially as the Super Bowl comes to town.

Eric Kendricks makes biggest splash in the middle of Vikings' defensive chaos
Posted by: purplefaithful - 09-09-2017, 01:36 AM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

Before the NFL game slowed down for Eric Kendricks, the Vikings needed the fleet-of-foot middle linebacker to slow his own roll.
Kendricks played like he drank too much coffee, coach Mike Zimmer says, overly eager to do his job. Not until Kendricks’ nerves settled did the Vikings’ leading tackler his first two seasons fully come into his own, commanding the Vikings’ front seven by relaying the play and tipping his teammates to the opponent’s formation and alignments.
The undersized (6 feet, 232 pounds) but mobile third-year pro became the valuable sideline-to-sideline defender who told his coach no, he didn’t want to make the prescribed move to outside linebacker this offseason because playing in the middle is where he can stop offenses on both sides of the field...

96 questions is back.

And it doesn't disappoint.  EG has a strong opinion about someone, Murray doesn't like the camera, Gedeon could be the joker's twin.

Kareem Hunt - RB - Chiefs

Kareem Hunt rushed 17 times for 148 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' Week 1 win over the Patriots, adding five receptions for 98 yards and two additional touchdowns.

Welcome to the NFL. Hunt lost a fumble on his first carry — something he literally never did at Toledo — but bounced back to absolutely shred the defending-champion Patriots. Hunt did it all tonight, getting upfield in a hurry and extending runs with power and broken tackles once he met the pile. He was also feathery smooth in the passing game, securing all five of his targets. His touchdowns went for three, 78 and four yards. He's the Chiefs' new three-down back, and will be an RB1 for Week 2 against the Eagles.
Not a bad start...Cook puts up half that on MNF (Gruden would run out of superlatives) and I'll be a happy man...

God, I hate MNF...sound will be off...
