  Matt Kalil, Ruh Roh...

Ex-Viking Kalil charged after his Twin Cities pizza place allegedly sells beer to minorMatt Kalil, a former Minnesota Viking now playing for the Carolina Panthers, is being held criminally responsible for a teenager being served alcohol at a Twin Cities pizza restaurant he owns.
Kalil was charged Monday in Hennepin County District Court with selling alcohol to a minor at Pieology Pizza in Maple Grove, even though he was not present. He’s been summoned to appear in court Dec. 15 for arraignment.
Kalil, an offensive lineman who played with the Vikings from 2012 to 2016, owns the Pieology Pizza franchising rights in Minnesota. Other outlets operate in St. Paul and Mankato.
The charging document explains that on the afternoon of Oct. 26, a 19-year-old woman was sold a beer by a 17-year-old server. A police officer intervened, confiscated the beer and called the general manager and told her of the illegal sale.
The general manager said she was newly hired and hadn’t gone through the required alcohol licensing training.
“In order to charge the proper person,” the court filing continued, the officer determined that Kalil was the owner and is “the defendant” responsible for the sale.

Any thoughts on the differences between the team at this point this year versus last. Other than injuries of course.

As NFL Civil War Brews, We Must Ask: Who Should Fans Root For?
Posted by: purplefaithful - 11-13-2017, 11:23 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (5)

The biggest NFL story of the day Sunday—and maybe of the past few years—started with a question: Did Dallas owner Jerry Jones leak the inflammatory story from ESPN about Roger Goodell's contractual demands?
We'll likely never know, but the question is similar to: Is there gravity?
I can't prove there's gravity, but I know it's there. I don't float off into space unless I'm on the purple drank.
What's certain is that some owners believe Jones leaked the story, in what is quickly becoming one of the most high-stakes, ugly and public fights the NFL has ever seen.
One owner, who asked not to be identified, sent me a stark text about Jones: "He's trying to start a civil war among ownership. I can't sit here and tell you it won't work."
ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported Sunday that Goodell is asking for around $49.5 million a year, use of a private plane for life and health insurance for life for his family. It's unclear whether Goodell is also demanding a unicorn that poops gold.

  OT - V83 heading to............Packer Country.

Yeah...you heard right. Not Hawaii.

For my daughters 16th birthday we asked where she would like to go to celebrate...so we leave Sat. for Disneyworld.
(Really thought she'd say Maui......stupid kid)  Five days there...then we decided to combine the trip to visit the in-laws and head to "Mayville" Wisconsin.....my wife told me it's by "Beaver Dam" to which I replied, "of course it is".
We've never visited them (They used to live here in So CA, but were born / raised there....worked here...retired and went back)

Going from 76 degrees in Orlando to 14 in "Beaver Dam" for Thanksgiving.
Apparently they are getting a "Tuhr-kay at the pig don cha kno" (Wife tells me thats a grocery store...Piggy Wiggle???)

Anyway, I'll be off the board starting on Sat. for about a week. My son will miss two playoff games, but if they win,
he will return for the title game. He's starting guard and DT....so fingers crossed.

Thought if Lambeau was fairly close I'd fulfill a bucket list item and find a way (tour - or whatever) to piss on the field there.
Tell them I'm a long time Packer fan...act all giddy to be there....tour the grounds with a few others...steal away and thaw the "frozen tundra" on the sly...probably get arrested...but soooo worth it. Looks to be about four hour drive..God only knows in what kind of weather..
Don't encounter many snow drifts in So CA.

Anyway if you hear of a "Californian arrested for desecrating Curly Lambeau field"....yeah...that was me.

Case Keenum wants to stay with Vikings
Posted by: Kentis - 11-13-2017, 09:35 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (1)

Quarterback Case Keenum is enjoying the best year of his career. Operating on a one-year, $2 million deal, Keenum will have plenty of options for 2018. He hopes to stay right where he is, however.
“I love it here,” Keenum told PFT by phone after Sunday’s 38-30 win over Washington. “I love these guys. My wife and I love it here.”
... sign him!

Vikings’ OC Shurmur dials up another gem vs. Washington
Posted by: purplefaithful - 11-13-2017, 09:10 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (1)

Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has put his backup quarterback in a position to succeed all season. Sunday’s 38-30 win over Washington may have been his best work.
Keenum may have thrown two ill-advised interceptions late in the game that nearly allowed Washington to come back, but for the first three quarters, the Vikings scored at will on the back of Shurmur’s play-calling and creativity.

How a group of underdogs became the best DL in the NFL...
Posted by: purplefaithful - 11-13-2017, 09:08 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (13)

There are zero first-round picks on Minnesota’s D-line. Every member started at the bottom and now they’re here, so to speak. As the Vikings head into Washington, they rank as the NFL’s third best team in points allowed, third best against the run, eighth in QB sacks, and fifth in Adjusted Net Yards Per Attempt, if you’re into “advanced” stats.
To build this group up front, it has taken years of patience and development. It’s also taken a special set of humans.
