"The Vikings are making a big bet.....On their pass rush. On their coaching. On their safety play.
They only have four CBs on the roster. Only one is proven. It’s a calculated approach that could shape the season"
And....how is Harry going to be ready for Game 1? Hasn't practiced in 2 1/2 weeks:

From yesterday: Harrison Smith's availability for Week 1 in Chicago is uncertain as he recovers from a personal health issue. He is expected to make a full recovery, but just a matter of when. He hasn't practiced since Aug. 11.

The secondary has been my biggest worry all offseason and the team has done surprisingly little to bolster the unit. The good news is that IF the secondary is a big issue this season, we should have the flexibility and picks next offseason to get it fixed. Rome wasn't built in a day is what I keep telling myself. It's year 1 of the JJ McCarthy Show. It may not ALL come together this season.

Oh my, Harry hasn't practiced in 2.5 weeks. How is he going to know the defense? C'mon. I get the corner concern, but the Harry thing is overblown.

Harry is 36, I'm not sure what kind of player he's going to be. Hopefully he's back soon.
Maybe its just me, but I get this vibe from many Viking's fans that feel this team is a loaded Superbowl machine in 2025. There's SO much we haven't seen yet in a variety of areas when the bullets are live. We ASSUME we've made improvements, but still no proof. I think this team starts out of the gate slow, I've said this for the last 3 months....and I think some fans are going to be absolutely gobsmacked over it.

An under the radar move the Vikes signed K'von Wallace to the PS, so they must be thinking if Harry can't go they have a backup plan, Ward most likely would take Harry's spot and Wallace for depth. I think they are okay there, Wallace has some good experience. CBs are where I think we are ridiculously hurting. I could see if the top 4 guys were all solid, but outside of Murphy there are 3 huge question marks. Keep thinking they must have a trade they are working on, they can't possibly go into the season with these 4?

has he been able to workout in the last 3 weeks? will his strength and conditioning be a factor once he returns? I dont think its a matter of knowing his assignments, but the conditioning factor, especially in the warm months, has to be a concern after a layoff like this.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

The inactivity around the DB room is almost astounding...I cant explain why they have not brought more bodies in.
As far as the season goes? Its a tough schedule and JJM is really, really green. How they start the season depends on how comfortable he'll be or not out there.
Hopefully they dont find themselves in some 1/4, 0/4 start..That'll be tough to work out of - there are no easy weeks on that schedule. At least as of August.

There's no proof of anything for any team right now We're all .500. However, the Lions lost two starters on their OL and both coordinators. The Eagles lost 5 starters not including Isaiah Rodgers. But yes, obviously we can't throw the confetti until we play a game or two and see what we have.
Are we making assumptions? Of course, but it's not wildly irresponsible to assume Kelly will be an upgrade over Bradbury. It's not wildly optimistic to assume Will Fries will be an upgrade over Risner. Darrisaw over Robinson, Jackson over Brandel, Allen over Bullard and Hargrave over Phillips.
Still, starting slow is not just possible, it's likely. A lot of new faces have to learn to play well together. But can they win games while this happens? Yeah, I think so. Because the fact remains that the Vikings are a 14-win team who actually upgraded its roster...pending one enormous question mark: the QB.

We’re betting the farm on guys who had season ending injuries last year. If those players stay healthy this year, it could be a magical year.
