I hope they give Flores a big bump in pay in line with the lower tier of head coaches and an Assistant Head Coach title. Frankly, I think Flores is best suited in that role. He doesn't fit as well in the modern role of a HC. The Wilfs aren't afraid of spending to elevate the team. Frankly, it builds their value in the franchise.

Take it FWIW....I'm viewing it as rumor only for now, especially considering the source.
================================

On his new deal, O’Connell went from earning $5 million annually to $12 million per year.

According to Charley Walters of Pioneer Press, he is rumored to be on a five-year, $60 million contract. If true, that means O’Connell would be the eighth-highest-paid coach in the NFL (tied with Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh).

O’Connell would be making more than Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, Buffalo Bills HC Sean McDermott, and the Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur.

The seven head coaches earning more than O’Connell are reportedly the Kansas City Chiefs’ Andy Reid ($20 million), Denver Broncos’ Sean Payton ($18 million), Pittsburgh Steelers’ Mike Tomlin ($16 million), Los Angeles Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh ($16 million), Los Angeles Rams’ Sean McVay ($15 million), San Francisco 49ers’ Kyle Shanahan ($14 million), and the Chicago Bears’ Ben Johnson ($13 million).

According to two sources, VikingsTerritory has learned that the deal is worth $13 million per season and extends O’Connell’s stay through the end of the 2029 campaign — so five more years in total.

O’Connell had one year left on his contract entering the 2025 offseason, leaving many to wonder when the deal would finalize. The offseason didn’t grow older than two weeks. Minnesota got its man.

The Vikings have fired up the NFL’s sixth-best win percentage since O’Connell accepted the top job in 2022. General manager Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell took over for general manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer after the 2021 season. The two have accounted for regular season bliss while still waiting on an elusive playoff win.
