Lol, Lincoln project should be running national ads on national MSM...Dem's should be taking a page or 2 from that playbook.
Agree. I don't know what ads are running on TV since I don't have broadcast TV channels, but I hope the the Lincoln Project ads in particular are seen by all those indies and republicans who might be getting a little tired of the crazy.

It's not TLP, but this is a very effective video that serves to remind everyone that we all knew who Donald Trump was. All of us. Republicans, Democrats, supporters, detractors...everyone knew. And 60M people voted for him anyway.

Honest question.  Of the 61m people who voted for Trump, what percent voted against Clinton rather then for Trump?

Apparently, there were many. Even some on this board. People who knew Trump was unfit, but strangely, those same people have come to love him and defend his most moronic behavior at every turn.

Thats because both parties have been good at making their voters think the other side is always wrong and evil.  We sit and bitch about the small stuff that is never going to change while they steal and give to their donors.

I'm just as guilty as anyone. I've many times argued that Trump has done some good things economically (which I think he has).  I hate his antics and I think most who have or will vote for him do.  Has he been a good President?  History will tell us I guess.  I'm thankful that we finally had someone talk about the BS that China has been doing to us.

End of they day just about anyone who gets to be a major party ticket candidate is so damn corrupt that if you shined enough light on them you'll find the skeletons. If anything, Trump is just not as trained at hiding those skeletons as a career politician.

And if this were typical Democrat vs. Republican politics, I'd agree with you. But it's not. There are now well over a hundred congressional republicans, defense personnel and former Trump staff members, not to mention the hundreds of Lincoln Project and RVAT republicans, who are publicly urging republicans everywhere to vote for Joe Biden in order to remove a dangerously unfit man from office.

This is not politics as usual. This is about preserving our democracy.

Here's an example from a Republican conservative who served under three republican presidents....For Conservatives to Have Any Hope, Trump Has to LoseAfter what we have seen during the president’s first term, any true conservative should be appalled by the prospect of a second.
The Republican Party once portrayed itself as the party of “family values,” insisting that character counts, especially in our political leaders, and most especially in our president. That was certainly the case during the Bill Clinton presidency. But today it has jettisoned all that, defending a rogue who paid hush money to a porn star while cheating on his third wife. Social conservatives once (rightly) warned against cultural decay, the coarsening of society, vulgarity and indecency. Yet Republicans now stand four-square behind a man who is uncaring and indecent.
The “party of ideas” is a phrase Daniel Patrick Moynihan used to describe the Republican Party in the early 1980s; today, large segments of the party are anti-intellectual, anti-science and dismissive of medical experts, to the point that it has turned wearing masks during a pandemic that’s spread by respiratory droplets into a “culture war” issue.
The party of law and order aggressively defends a president who is lawless. A party that for many years positioned itself as the defender of objective truth, a bulwark against subjectivism and ethical relativism, has as its leader a serially dishonest man who is engaged in a daily assault on reality.
During the 2016 campaign, Mr. Trump praised the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who spread the false narrative that the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax — and just last week the president praised QAnon, which Kevin Roose of The Times describes as “a sprawling set of internet conspiracy theories that allege, falsely, that the world is run by a cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles who are plotting against Mr. Trump while operating a global child sex-trafficking ring.” The lunacy and paranoia that was once on the fringe is now becoming more and more mainstream, which is hardly what one would expect to see in a serious, thoughtful conservative movement.

Grew up in a traditional conservative household (Alex P Keaton over here), back in 03 was the vocal minority in support of W in the halls of university political science, foreign relations class rooms.  This is not the party of the Bushes or Reagan anymore, it’s Facebook America.

It is a party of Americans who have been fed garbage food of the 90s, garbage thought of the 2000s media/internet, and still operating out of the scar of 9/11 with is projected under the badge of Patriotism, Murica, “fuck yeah!”

The GOP has historically turned up a war with a vast group of enemies, the Soviets, Viet Cong, the Iranians Via the Ayatollah, Hussein, Islamic Terrorism, Al Qaeda, ISIS, drugs.

Now that those enemies are gone (for the most part) or proven to be worthless wars, they need a new enemy

Common sense & science

The party of Lincoln (social justice), Eisenhower (US infrastructure investment via higher taxes, push back vs the military industrial complex), Teddy (foreign policy) is where the GOP needs to head or its over

I can only hope for a future GOP that focuses on principles:

Less government intrusion, ending the war on drugs and working with the statistics to raise up the lower income communities via smart policy.  This lowers the requirements of the welfare state.  Federal legalization alone of cannabis would be a significant cash crop, economic engine, and lower the state costs of the legality of arrests for minor drug offenses.  Nothing seems freer than being able to smoke a plant that you can grow in your own back yard

Middle Americans having access to a US infrastructure that benefits them, their businesses, their lives via taxing the wealthy.  The job creation galore of fixing America would be a massive job creator for “conservatives”.  A cleaner, stronger, safer, innovative infrastructure sets the foundation for significant growth.  I am still waiting for “Infrastructure Week”

The golden rule from the core conservative values in how we treat our fellow Americans, our downtrodden, our communities.  How taking care of our food system and preventative care can help people elevate from detrimental and health catastrophes, which we all pay for in our insurance system.

Takes on the fight against climate change as a tool to unlocking American greatness to be implemented at home, to exported globally.  Selling innovation not bombs to build global alliances.
