So I guess all the progressives will be racing to the nearest microphone to denounce this guy as a racist.  Right?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the next guy in line being even more liberal than Northam is.  Still, I've seen him denounced... and *some* have called for his head.  But there are plenty of people defending him (who wouldn't do the same for a member of the GOP, including Northam, himself).  And then there is CNN, who has started referring to Northam as a Republican... and some other publication (I forget which), which says that Northam is (really, secretly) a Republican.  I guess that explains his racism, since a Democrat could never be a racist (Sen. Byrd ring a bell?).

In my opinion, he's just a guy who did a dumb thing.  I don't think he's a racist anymore than the guy who started this thread.  At the very least, i have to admit that I don't (and can't) know their hearts... so I don't even try.  That would seem unfair (and intellectually dishonest).

Wait, what!!?? You honestly think that because he’s a Democrat that Democrats in the room won’t hold him to the same standard? My goodness, Reverend, are you a partisan hack or what??

In fairness to CNN, I assumed he was a Republican too. Sounds like a lot of folks did. That should tell you a lot. No, if that’s him in the photo, dude should resign. ESPECIALLY considering he’s a Dem.

There is certainly s hit I'm not proud of from 30 years ago.

I don't doubt this guy did the black face thing. Don't know if he just owned-up to it right away or not? Not sure if it would have made a difference.

Not excusing racism, I abhor it, but I do believe people can change over time.

I know I am. He needs to go immediately. He pissed me off even further when he first admitted it was wrong and then said he wasn't sure if it was him in the photo. That picture is unacceptable regardless of party. I know there are people eagerly defending Brett Kavanaugh, Steve King, Blake Farenthold and Roy Moore among others.
