SI.com: Edmonds expect Murray to have a huge year in Minnesota
#21
I’m not ready to get on the hype train yet. I think I want to hold expectations of mediocrity and give the Vikings a chance to impress me rather than hold delusions of grandeur and become disappointed.

There’s just too many ways this can not work out.

Mostly, I just don’t care about regular season wins. I just want us to find a QB that can win us multiple playoff games in a row, a guy we can build around for the long term. I really don’t want to go 10-7, lose the first game in the playoffs, and then sign up for 4 years $220M to get more of the same. I think any mid level QB should get us 9-11 wins with a Flores defense against the 3rd place schedule.

I say anything short of a playoff win should be the benchmark as to how you approach next year,  but that is being a little short sighted this early because it could be something out of Murrays control that comes up short, but then again,  if he is worth 50+ per year,  he should make it glaringly apparent that he deserves the money,  otherwise I wouldn't do it regardless of the outcome in 26.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

#Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell on Kyler Murray’s rushing ability:

“When he gets out there, he’s proven to turn the corner, being able to turn a 15 yard run into a 40 yard TD. That’s on the tape, visible to watch.”

Maybe four years ago, but several injuries later, is that still something in Murray's arsenal?

Doesn't even take mid level to get us to 9.  Brosmer got us two of those wins last year.

I still have PTSD thinking last year would be an 10/11 win season with the surround the rook QB had and the BFlo D.

I do always want to win the division and I would love to get home field for at least rd1 and win a playoff game.

The win at NO was too long ago now.

I have no idea which way this will go, but damn if it isnt reminiscent of going from 2008 to 2009. Imagine what a BFlo D could be if they were playing from ahead and against an offense that had to go one dimensional?

I'd pay to watch that.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I don’t think you were wrong in thinking that. No one could have predicted McCarthy would go down week 2 and not come back until week 9. Then miss games with two other injuries. If he had stayed healthy, I think there’s a pretty good chance we win 11 games. We won 9 as it is. Would’ve been 10 without the special teams screw up against Chicago.

Murray’s going to add a dimension to this offense we’ve never seen. If the offense stays relatively healthy, it’s going to be hard to stop. My biggest concern isn’t Murray, or really anything on offense. It’s adequately replacing Hargrave and Allen. They weren’t great, but that’s still about 1300 snaps we have to replace. I’ll feel much better about both if we can somehow pull two DL starters from the draft.

We'd have to take them back to back, but that's what I'd like to see us do. With all the fuss about Murray, everyone seems to have forgotten we lost two starters in one unit.

But expecting a starter from round two is not an unreasonable expectation. The DROY last year was a 2nd round pick. So was the runner up. But I did send your apologies to JIT.  Tongue
