Not that I'm a big fan of KOC but I can't put this move solely on him.
Ownership values short term feelings over long term strategy especially if that strategy involves any kind of patience with growing pains. It's not how I'd do things but I can't afford an NFL franchise.
As I've said I'm not optimistic about JJM's prospects but still think they should be giving it one more look before bailing. But once KAM got dumped this path became inevitable. Kevin in year 5 needs a playoff win to see his way to year 6 and this is definitely pushing the chips all in for him.
But I like the upside with Murray. It's kinda funny that 80% of folks here and everywhere else seem to be down on this move. The guy put up numbers for years for an organization and staffs that were basically dog crap.
But now he's gonna come here where I never hear the end about our great team, great owners, great facilities, great "culture", great head coach, everything's great except of course the empty trophy case.
But poor Kyler, all that production in Dogshitville is going to drop to zero here in the land of perpetual greatness. Somehow the HC who's a QB whisperin' genius and clearly spearheaded this move, will be at a loss to succeed with the guy he chased after. What an amazing, tortured narrative. . I guess we'll see how it works out.

The 'expectation' from fans on this should be more wins and a playoff push, I guess lets start with 1 playoff victory being the floor. Why else do this? p.s. JJ just turned 23 years old....two months ago.
Christo...I have socks older than McCarthy.
Plenty of time for the kid to ferment some, hopefully this doesn't mess with his head too much.
My guy says he'll come out of this just fine and he'll most likely get a chance (or 2 or 3) to play and start this year. Plus the ONLY WAY Murray is here after this season is if he is just off the charts good and the team makes a run.
As a fan, I dont like the rent a QB tbh...I'd rather get behind a youngin with upside, besides I suffered with McCarthy last year and I wanted some payoff this year with him.
But it's over now and we're being fed this competition which really isnt. Will be curious to hear JJ in front of the mic soon.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I think they're the loudest, but I don't think they're the majority. Ben Leber posted a poll the other day asking Viking fans a simple yay or nay on Murray. It had roughly 5,400 responses. Yays won 67 to 33.

It isn't the majority.....outside of this board, its easily over 65% in favor. That will grow incrementally as the weeks pass. As we get closer to the Draft, May OTAs, etc. the national media will continue to hype this signing and fans will follow suit.

I'm agreeing with MB that outside this board, most fans are in favor of it. My post might have been confusing?

What I’ve seen from the fans on reddit, (which is a pretty toxic community) is that it’s pretty close to strongly favorable towards Kyler Murray, JJM is the worst QB in history, and KOC is lying that there will be a competition. There’s also a ton of Kyler is short jokes.
I don’t put too much stock in reddit, as I think a lot of the “people” on it are AI bots that troll everyone to generate engagement, but that’s what I’ve been exposed to.

Yep, you've clearly been around a while. This is how it happens. By the time spring rolls around and the Vikings start generating some national hype, the doubters will begin to realize exactly what this signing means to a team with terrific weapons and a Flores defense.
Now, about Jeremiyah Love....
