Wes Phillips: 'You feel Brandel's size in there at center'

Is it me or is it kind of nuts that the starting center the last few weeks for a NFL team is a guy that never took one snap there previously? I don't know whether to think its unlucky injuries/coaching ineptitude or a bit of brilliance on Brandel's part.

Brandel is one of those guys that you try really hard to find a position for.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I hate him at starting guard, like him better at center.

Thats kind of what I am thinking,  prior to this year he has likely had about as much work at C as I have and he has performed pretty good all things considered.  I want to see what he can do when he isnt having to think so hard about each snap and can just play the position.  Would be nice to see this organization luck into IOL help since they cant draft it for shit when they try (praying Jackson turns out like I think he can)

I just hope Brandel shows improvement as he gets more snaps. We're going to need him. He hasn't been a revelation there, but he hasn't stunk either. He looks to be a better option than Jurgens.

So you are saying the Spielman guy who's never played center until a month ago, is better than the Kwesi guy who's played center his whole life? Go figure...

Par for the course. Our best players on the roster are still guys Spielman drafted four and five years ago.

Yes, 4 and 5-year veterans are going to be better than 1st and 2nd year players. Vikings went 2 for 15 in 2020. Brandel was one of the two.

That's not true. First and second year players can be impactful starters and better players than a lot of older veterans. Happens every year

And our 2020 draft included Jefferson, Brandel and Josh Mettelus along with a few guys who were decent starters for us and are starters on other teams now.
