Benching JJ? Is it really the ankle
#21
Social media really does cut across all lines.
Yesterday, I saw a Facebook post from SKOL.NORTH.

(SORRY, you need to cut and paste)

The gist of it is comparing JJ McCarthy's first two games to Jared Goff's first season...Bo Nix's first month last year, Josh Allen's entire first season.
I commented "Or Peyton Manning's first season"

My comment had one like.
Guess who?

Yeah, it was JJ McCarthy himself.

Oh boy. Cool that he liked it (if it was really him?), but the 2nd worst thing a young player can do is read social media posts. The worst is to actually engage with them.

But I agree with the gist of the post. It's WAY too early to make any kind of comprehensive judgement on JJ.

It's only two games but we have seen the potential he has. We all know he needs experience. I'm not one to make excuses for poor play but he has been under siege with almost no clean pockets. He had some in the 4th quarter against the Bears but not many others. Part of that is holding the ball and part of it is calling long developing pass plays. But few QB's would do well with the amount of pressure he faced. I think we will see a different JJ if they can get the entire O-line playing and they have a little time to gel. A little time off will give him and KO an opportunity to clean things up!

Its dumb but it won't stop some fans from believing what they'd like to, which is what they'll do anyway regardless. What I love is when the crazies explain their theories in what they think is a coherent and tangible way, that 'something doesn't make sense' to them, lol (I'm speaking about Twitter/online fans, not on the board. Its crazy out there).

They wrapped it last night and in typical ankle sprains, it hurts a ton worse the next day. I sprained my ankle during a 3-on-3 Gus Macker basketball tournament, taped it up and played. The next morning it was throbbing, black and fully swollen. Dr. said I was an idiot and could have done permanent damage.

Lol. These have to be the same people freaking out about his fiancee being pregnant and they were living in sin. Then the wave of congratulations rolled in once Rome appeared.

I am manifesting a defensive feast for Sunday. LFG

Last thing he wants to do I'm sure is be visiting a trainer again - but thats football.

I wish he wasn't injured. But I agree, I think some time away has benefits to get himself re-grounded. Plus I really dont want to put him out there with 2/5 of the OL out. At least not at this stage of development.
