Harbaugh: Don't count out the Vikings

I get that Harbaugh is abrasive but it seems like half the people bashing him for not getting along with his GM in SF also wanted Doug Pedersen… who had the same clashes.

I’d be all for Harbaugh.
I live in the Philly market - Pederson was undermined and handcuffed - I also hate the Eagles so for me to admit that is I think revealing.

Harbaugh has had clashes since he was a player and everywhere else, he has gone.  Looking into a mirror Jim:  Geez I clash with everyone what is the common denominator?  Not me, I'm Jim Harbaugh Smile

Strictly speaking as to when he coached the 49'ers, maybe he had good reason to beef with Baalke.

A league source tells PFT that Leftwich basically gave the Jaguars an ultimatum: It’s me or Trent.

It’s a stunning move, but it underscores the concerns many had about owner Shad Khan’s decision to keep Baalke around. As one league source explains it to PFT, multiple candidates refused to even interview for the Jacksonville job if Baalke was going to remain in place as the General Manager.

I'll speak for myself as someone who does not want Harbaugh.  I just thought/think that Pederson should have been interviewed as well as Daboll.  I never said Pederson was a no brainer selection but what he did in putting that season, coaching staff, team, with a career backup and beat the Patriots in the SB is pretty darn impressive even for an Eagle hater like me.

And you don't think he would help out Harbaugh if asked?  If not they don't have much of a relationship.

Yes, I am sure Harbaugh pumps up all his draft eligible players.  But does he tell the scouts the negative stuff?

Finally, the interview process also helps the team, as the interviewee will be assessing the team.  Interviews can produce valuable insights.  So, it is a win for everyone.
Harbaugh wouldn't do this regardless? Again, if they have a relationship it wouldn't require some sort of tit for tat. And would, as you say, be a win for everyone.
I am sorry, but I was responding to you writing this: "I'd lose all respect for Kwesi if less than a week on the job he knowingly allowed himself to be used for a buddy to get a pay bump."  Now, you are agreeing with me that interviewing Harbaugh would be a "win for everyone."  Confused.
Not what I'm saying at all. I'm discussing your thought that a sham interview to get Harbaugh more money would some how change the way in which Harbaugh talks to Kwesi about Michigan players. If they have a relationship theres no reason he wouldn't give his best Intel on a player. Regardless of a sham interview.

The win win I speak of if Harbaugh gives good intel is the Vikes win from play acquisition standpoint. Michigan wins because the more players drafted the more it helps recruiting .

The intel I am talking about is the bad intel -- the character flaws that may not be seen -- the Underwood intel.   This type of intel hurts draft status.  As you say, Harbaugh has the motivation to blow smoke up scounts' asses in order to improve the draft status of Michigan players -- so giving Kwesi more insider information would be valuable.  Moreover, this type of itching each other back is very prevalent at this level.  You are basically saying Kwesi would just be helping Harbaugh for no benefit at all and therefore you would be disappointed with Kwesis for doing so.  You don't think Kwesi doing a favor will not have an impact down the road.  Interesting view of the altruistic nature of man.

Also, if Harbaugh called Kwesi asked him to have an "exploratory conversation" with him regarding the HC position -- especially since Harbaugh was forced to renegotiate his Michigan salary down about a year ago -- and Kwesi told Harbaugh no -- you don't think that would influence Harbaugh going forward?

Great points by both of you and it may even have an impact as early as this Draft. Michigan’s top DE will probably go top 3 but their other guy might be there when we’re on the clock at 12.
