certainly looked like a block in the back to bust him loose
Last night I realized that Patterson is one of those players who you really like when he is on your team, but can't stand when he is on the other side. He is so obnoxious, was hoping they would strip the ball from him.

He is a bigger, obnoxious Marcus Sherels. A really good special team player. Except he cost a 1st round pick and Sherels was a UDFA that stuck for many years.
I think it's time to stop talking about Patterson as a bust. Not many do, but some do. No, he wasn't what we wanted him to be, but the guy now has a handful of NFL records, including most career KOR TDs. 6 time all pro. Tough to call that a bust.

Bust as a player? Absolutely not. Bust as a wide receiver? Yes. What did we draft him for? I would moreso say receiver with hope of using him in the return game. Vikes should have taken Keenan Allen, but hindsight is 2020

Taking Keenan Allen there would've been a huge reach. He was coming off an injury and ran a 4.7 forty. But if you're gonna play hindsight, what we should've done was take Deandre Hopkins where we took Sharrif Floyd and then take Kawaan Short where we took Patterson.
Does kinda make you wonder why no one--not the Vikings, Raiders, Patriots or Bears--could teach Patterson how to play receiver.
I don't know why anyone finds him obnoxious. Thrilled at scoring a long TD, of course. Funny, my reaction in seeing him after that score was that I wish we could have kept him. But he's still managing to get contracts for $5M/year so we can't afford that for KR and ST gunner.

In the current NFL, who pays a KR $5M? Other than the Bears?
I found his flashy a bit obnoxious when he danced in the endzone while we were getting pounded by Seattle. There were other times as well, but once he figured out his role was KR and gunner, he became good at it, so kudos to him for finding his spot. Just seems better suited for a $500k player rather than a $5M.

I was hoping for Hopkins. I wanted him really bad. There was some silly stuff that came up about him and his friends trashing a hotel room t the combine. I felt it was a planted story.
Sometimes you just have to go with the "sure" thing. Hopkins was clearly the better WR but he could not play special teams. So we went with upside:-(. Hopkins sure hands and ability to go get the ball in the air were just amazing.
