GM's make their bread in the draft and finding those sleeper players in the mid to late rounds. My 86-year old aunt Mary in Iowa could sign known players in free agency. I want a GM that can find me Puka Nacua in the 5th round.
You know that's mostly luck, right? As Belichick once said, anything past the 4th round, you're just guessing. Bill was not very good at the draft, but I think he was right about that.
Nacua was taken with the last pick in the 5th round, the Rams' 4th pick in that round. None of the players they took before Nacua in the 5th round has done anything. If they really believed in Nacua, and had to have him, wouldn't they have at least taken him with one of those earlier picks in the 5th round? No, that was a shot in the dark and they got lucky. Like the Vikings did with Diggs and the Chiefs did with Tyreek Hill.
