Now that would be the prize that may make Greenard leaving palatable - least to me.
It actually makes sense on several levels. Need, roster construction, cap, etc. The problem, of course, is Love actually falling to a spot within reach, which means getting past Arizona, Tennessee. Seems unlikely, but if he does, I can see the Vikings pulling the trigger. Maybe that's why they haven't yet traded Greenard.

1999 was the last time a QB draft pick worked out for us.
Daaamn that is depressing.

Agree with the rest of what you said. Online fans are acting like we are getting Patrick Mahomes coming in. Also, some talking head said on a show yesterday that Minnesota should draft Jeremiah Love to go with Murray, so now that's their (online fanboys) naive expectations, lol. They'll be bitterly disappointed without it.
The Love discussion is crazy. I swear, Reddit has no memory that trading all our picks is the prime reason Kwesi got fired. Like everyone was fuming over Dallas Turner and all the draft capital that went into that trade (even though it was to go get Drake Maye).
Every year there's one or two RBs that's the next HOF back. 85% of the time, not that HOF-worthy after a couple years have passed.
Literally last year, we had the next Barry Sanders. Literally couldn't miss with him. Well, that didn't quite work out like that.
I think if you let fan consensus be the GM, we would watch our team destroy itself in the course of two years and be bottom dwellers after that.

Personally I don't want Jones, particularly at a high salary.

That's a big gap. They could tell him to **** off and go with Murray for $1.3M, freeing up Jones to come to Minnesota. We already know KOC likes Jones, and he's a terrific fit in our offense. Still, his tag is $37M. That's a hard pill. But maybe that's why the Vikings are their keeping their powder dry and their money under their mattress.
I heard rumblings that Daniel Jones is driving a hard bargain with the Colts because the Vikings are interested in bringing him back. Who knows what's true or not true this time of year, but it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe he sees MN a bit differently after having left? Or maybe that rumor is all BS lol

And you didn't even mention that KOC doesn't want to operate a run heavy offense. Every year he says he'll "fix" the running game and every year he completely abandons it in favor of YOLO ball on every down and distance. This franchise being run by committee and going trade crazy to gamble on a RB prospect the HC won't use is about the nuttiest thing I've heard so far during nutty season. Not quite but very close.

There's a lot to...um...like about Love. I've read that Love is all we need, that he's like oxygen, or a many-splendored thing. That he's higher than a mountain and, oddly enough, thicker than water. But I've also heard that sometimes Love can be a battlefield. So clearly not everyone agrees.
